Has anyone used golftech for club fitting ? Are they reputable, or should I look for some other place to go? I live in the Houston Beaumont area and if there is another place that would be better please fill me in.

I posted this recently in another golftec fitting thread.

[color=#1C2837][size=2]There was a local coupon for our Golftec bag fitting, It was for the 2 hour whole bag so I decided to get it.[/size][/color] [color=#1C2837][size=2]I just got it done this weekend. Normally it costs $295 but the coupon it was $130. For that price I would say it was worth it. The normal full price not so much.[/size][/color] [color=#1C2837][size=2]The positives was it identified some issues with my current setup and re-enforced the typical results I was getting ie ball flight too high for irons, driver shaft was too stiff for my swing leading to slices. The thing I was expecting was more recommendations if I were to purchase new clubs. I only got one iron set to consider and one driver. I tested 2 drivers out and one iron set out. I was really expecting a more thorough list of possible clubs that would suit what the trackman data was saying. [/size][/color] [color=#1C2837][size=2]For instance the tech recommends the JPX-800 pro irons (I currently use MX-100's) with an extra 1/2 inch. I guess I was expecting more of a list then that. Now I have to figure out what other manufacturer models are close enough to consider purchasing.[/size][/color]

I recently just moved from your area. I have used the Golftec services, but it was in Nashville not Texas. I do recall however a comprehensive club fitting inside of one of the big golf store in the Galleria area. I'm almost positive it was the Golf Galaxy on Richmond. The PGA pro there was a real nice guy named Tim. Loves to talk golf. I left there with several recommendations for new clubs and horrible videos of my swing. The down side is the Driver and iron fittings are not in the same pkg, i dont believe. And I paid for a ball fitting that came free at Golftec. Other option is a club fitter in Lake Charles the players from LU all use, sorry don't have his info anymore. But you can check at GPP. Hope that helps some.

I used them, and the first fitting was not at all worth the money to me. I even went and spoke to someone and got another fitting, by another employee, done for free. The first guy did not work with me at all. He gave me 2 options, I hit just 3 clubs and no shaft combos, he didn't show me stats, and was not as knowledgable as I would have expected. The second was far more congenial and did an all around better fitting.

Even after that I was still not impressed for the money on the second fitting. At least at my location the shaft choices were limited and I can't get over the fact i had to hit iron shots from a tee. How do you calculate spin when you are hitting off a half inch rubber tee? Several shots he said were "pure" and I barely touched the mat. My big concern was spin and I feel like I got nothing out of the LM numbers. After all that, the printout he gave me had incorrect shafts and club info. If I wanted to know what shaft I hit I had to remember because they had the stock model listed on each club. Also, I'm pretty sure he didn't change the variable on the Ping to reflect it was a 7 iron instead of a 6. All the data made the ping the worst choice, but the numbers were so different I think it was comparing a 7 to a 6.

Just my experiences though. My bad experience is mostly related to the individual, so go talk to the site and see if they know what they are doing first.
