How was the Fuzzy Baby Ducks? It sounds awesome.
It is fantastic. Its a single IPA that is what i like to call the "lite" version of my favorite NEBCO beer, Locust Reign. The line at the brewery was 100 people deep an hour before they opened today and the Fuzzy supply was kicked in less than two days.
Single hop of my favorite hop variety. Citra is so juicy
Agreed. I always gravitate to the more citrus-y, fruity IPAs. Being from MI, how is Hopslam? I can get some other Bell's stuff when I go to NY, but never have seen or tried it.

This goes back to the mid 70's (Say summer 1976)... anyhow I was stationed at Little Creek Naval Base and every Friday a half dozen or so of us would walk to the package store and everyone would get a different 6 pack of beer. We'd sit and around telling lies and quaff the brew and analyze the quality. My god was there some terrible beer. Certainly more bad than good.
Mmm... A couple weeks ago I was staying at a hotel next to the Samuel Adams brewery in PA. On tap they had Sam Adam's Double Bock. Currently that is on my favorite list. Was looking for it today and can't find it.

Hopslam is really good. I could do without the honey they put in it but it's still tasty. It's not a "juicy" IPA but I really look forward to it each year.

Found a store with Backwoods but they are limiting 1 12 oz bottle per customer per day, lol. This is when a large family would come in handy...

Good score tonight, finally able to track down some more Backwoods Bastxxx, Also picked up the Firestone Walker 18th anniversary beer.

B3kopz9CQAAUZwJ.jpg

This one will be interesting, it is a blend of Firestones barrel aged beers this year. Little pricey at $16 for the 22oz but I might go grab another one to let it age for next Christmas

Nothing super new or special this week just picked up more founders stuff, dirty bastxxx and double trouble. Sadly I could not get another bottle of the 18th anniversary from Firestone, I wanted to have a fresh one with Christmas dinner, I decided to let that bottle age for a year and have it next Christmas.

Dirty bastxxx I wanted to try just to taste the difference in the barrel aging of backwoods and while dirty is good the aging in backwoods just makes it so much better.

right now drinking Fore_life home brewed stout (the one with no number on it Mark) really good stuff

Barrel aged strong ales and stouts might be my go to beers for winter really enjoying that style right now

Going to pick up some Backwoods bastxxx tomorrow. I'll holler back to give my thoughts on it. was not a huge fan of the dirty bastxxx but did like their double trouble as well as Sierra Nevada Hoptimum. Pranqster is delicious. Boulevards tasting room ESB and ginger lemon raddler is outstanding as well as their wheat beer.

I have been on a Founders kick since I came across your discussion, so thanks again for that. From favorite to least thus far - Backwoods, Porter, Dark Penance, Breakfast Stout.

Also, I've still been enjoying my long time favorite Abita Turbodog and Dominion Oak Barrel Stout.

Not a fan of breakfast stout huh? One of my favorite stouts, well that is always available.

Anyone try odd side ales hipster breakfast stout yet? Say it the other day but went with some Brown Sugga from Lagunitas instead.

I like it, I just like the other Founders offerings better. It's definitely still a step up from other stouts I like, for example Bell's Kalamazoo Stout and the Oak Barrel I mentioned.

20 min left at work then off to total wine. Rough Draft has a barrel aged strong ale I am curious to try called Freudian slip along with some dogfish head palo santo marron that sounds really good, might pick something else up too

Founders, Avery, Firestone Walker, Bear Republic are on my can do no wrong list right now everything I have had from them has been solid. I would love to try some of the Goose Island Bourbon stuff but cant get it out here.

Saw a tweet that Avery is going to be bringing back the Maharaja IPA so if you missed out on that try to pick one up, seriously great IPA.

Seen the Mahajara tonite and picked up some Backwoods, Breakfast stout and curmudegeon. We had 12 cases of Backwoods bastxxx here as well as some other limited runs. My buddy who owns the store is a craft beer fanatic and has a very nice selection that is always evolving. Needless to saymy arse is pretty lit right now after a Backwoods, Curmudgeon and a few Cantina mexican cerveza's as chasers. He is gonna try to get us some Zombie dust soon and has a few cases of goose island bourbon country he is releaing a case at a time 1 bottle limit per customer on revolving dates 13 %.

So the total wine hosed me again with poor inventory control on their website, I could not get the rough draft but did get

B4s2iSVCIAEajc4.jpg

The dogfish head Palo Santo Marron is really solid but I put two in my pantry for aging as I think they will be really really great in a year.

The ABT 12 was a total whim purchase for my Christmas dinner beer but has amazing reviews

Fore life suggested the Old Stock, put two in the fridge and two away for later

Picked up stone old guardian barleywine and double bastxxx 2013 the other night heard mixed reviews of double B but other than being strong 11.5% with a hint of booze I thought it was solid.

The old guardian is shelved for a few months bottled 2/14

Did not open one last night. Will let you know tonight or tomorrow during the lions game.

Did you hear the founders released a 2014 CBS in kegs only? Just heard of this last night. Few places in Lansing tapped them last week and supposedly there are quite a few out in the market but founders really has no say in who gets them.

Quite a Few places in Lansing got them. A few places in GR including Founders taproom have had it. Ashleys in A2 had it and so did Lockharts BBQ. I heard Lockharts was a disaster when they tapped it. Jets Pizza in Chelsea is tapping it Monday. I think you will see it pop up over the winter in various places. I'm hoping to be able to taste it.

Hope so!

On to the black rye. Just got to hopcat downtown and had my first sip while typing this. Very good. Up front has a porter type taste but very smooth and not heavy like the porter.
