Golf in the Tampa Area

First go around

Well I spent Christmas just outside Tampa for the first time since some family has moved down there, and I honestly can't complain. I got to play three rounds of Golf in three days, and rarely saw a thermostat read under 70*.

First round my brother and I went out and walked Bloomingdale's Golfers Club. This was a fun little track, and had some nice characteristics. It was in pretty good shape and had some really beautiful holes. Probably wouldn't spend over $25 to play it.

For our second round we headed south a little ways to Summerfield Crossings Golf Club. This was a really fun course that offers some pretty wide open play, but quite a few obstacles around. Fairways are wide for the most part, but well placed water and bunkers make for a fun and challenging round.

The last day of Florida golf for me was spent on the Palmer Course at Saddlebrook. It rained for about 30 minutes right before we teed off, so the course was a little soggy. We fought through the water, and really enjoyed a great round of golf. This course was one of the more beautiful and well kept courses I have played. Phenomenal greens, and well maintained fairways and rough made a very enjoyable day. There is water EVERYWHERE on this course. We don't see much of that in West Texas.

Looks like ya'll had fun! I was down there in May for a few days before we left on a cruise from the Port of Tampa and really liked the area too. Next time your down there, check out Lake Jovita (North Course I believe) and World Woods (Pine Barrens Course). Both great tracks and can be played for about 50-60 bucks, about 35 mins north of Tampa. Beautiful courses!
