My fitting experience at Tour X golf

I've just got back from picking up my new irons and fairway wood from Tour X golf, in Warrington, England and wanted to post as a thank you to Nick for his patience and perseverance over the past couple of months.

 

I first visited Nick in November after coming across his fitting centre on Golfwrx. I had actually booked to go to the Mizuno fitting centre in Wrexham, but the appointment got cancelled after Mizuno shut it down. I am very much from the Yorkshire school of life, meaning I won't part wish cash unless I absolutely know that what I am buying will be better than what I already have.

 

My first visit lasted about 2 hours. Nick took his time asking questions about what I wanted in a set of irons, what my preferences are with regards to headshape, shafts feel, club weight etc etc. After a coffee and questions the rest of the time was spent hitting a range of iron heads and shafts on the Trackman. We slowly narrowed down the heads and shafts to the point where we had about 3-5 heads and 3-5 shafts. At this point we called it a night and agreed that I would come back the week after to repeat the process with some samples Nick would make up for me.

 

At the second visit I hit all the clubs in a relaxed time frame - Nick doesn't rush and is genuinely interested in feedback, asking just the right amount of questions, making suggestions based on the answers and generally making the whole experience one of the best fitting I had ever done (I've been a long time Ping player and the experience is night and day). We finished the second session completely nailed on with the shaft, but I couldn't decide on the head. At this point, Nick could have pushed to 'close the sale', but he didn't, and was happy to wait for me to make a call in my own time.

 

After sitting down and thinking about it, and a number of email conversations, I finally decided on a set of irons, and arrangements were made for me to visit and pick up in the new year.

 

I had also asked Nick to see what fairway wood heads he had 'lying around' in his large inventory. I was delighted when he produced a fantastic tour issue Adams fairway - exactly what I was hoping he would. He built it there and then for me, and it's great to watch a skilled man at work.

 

Overall it was a great experience, and I know that from now on all my golf clubs will be fitted by Nick. The confidence in knowing your equipment is made to such high standards is something I wouldn't want to give up. If you are into getting properly fit for your equipment, and you get the opportunity to visit Nick, I suggest you do.

Echo'd and echo'd again, what a great setup and a top fella, if anything he is too nice and needs to stick with his diary of appointments but that is how nice he is and he will give you the same amount of time and attention wether you have parked Lambo or a Lada outside, i will be having all my clubs from here from now on, some really great rare tour issue gear available too!!!!
