Current or past Royal Precision Rifle users

I know these are not made any more but wanting to get input from those that have or are using these shafts. I hit this shaft in a nike club out of there fitting chart and it felt good so thinking of putting them in my set. I was talking to a guy at the golf store last night and he said they have a tendancy to balloon and loose distance. Would those of you that have used these or currently use these agree with him?

i've got these shafts in two sets of nike pro combos. saying they balloon and loose different is all relative to what shaft you compare it too. for me, compared to tt s300, i hit the rifle higher, but no distance loss. i had more problems with the s300 ballooning than the rifle shaft. again, that is how it works for me and my swing, with the way i load the shaft.

I currently play the PX but before i made the move to those I was a huge fan of the Tour Flighted Rifle. IMO much better than the DG counterpart. If you can, try and find some time to hit it outside. See for yourself. I certainly wouldn't have made the switch if I had that type of result. That being said, Rifle shafts aren't for everybody.

What shafts are you playing now?

Whats your current ball flight? And what's your desired ball flight?

l have a set of original Rifle 5.5's in some Maltby forged heads. They are so, so smooth but they did balloon for me also especially in the short irons. l considered maybe they were just too soft but l hit DLGSL R300's high without balooning them so in the end l came to the same conclusion. For me, the old Rifles would need to be flighted down in the short lengths.

I just ordered my new Miura 501 with Rifle Fligted 6.0. It'll be my third set with these shafts. I'm not balloning and losing distance. My 7 iron is 165 and I'm happy with that. But this me with my weird swing.

just moved from project x 6:0 to rifle 6:5 shafts in my irons. Im blown away by the improvement in feel, proj x feel horible. I think there is a little more spin, which is a good thing for me. i think shaft performance is way,way overrated, to me the important things are flex and feel

They are great feeling, but do sometimes balloon into the wind. They are fine in any other circumstance. I have them in a set of tp mb smokes and love them. If you have the ability to control trajectory then they are a great shaft.
