Egg Spoon Questions........

EmptyWallet

Recommended Posts

I find teh stock shafts VERY good. I play an M40 but that's becuase my SS has come down due to age and recovery from an accident. I can say teh DI I have in the EGG FW is tighter but not much more. I'm just a fan of GD Tour AD shafts and had a spare DI lying around but really, not that much better than the stock shaft. For that reason, I'm hesitant to change the shaft in my EGG I+. I actually havd a GD Tour AD UT shaft lying around as well. Maybe the stock setup of the EGGs just work for me.

Hmmmmmm. M43 or M40....

My Egg Spoon is going to have an M43 in it. But you said your i+ plays stiffer with the same shaft? Maybe I should go M40.
With my driver ss= 90 - 95 mph I startet with M40 Egg Spoon stockshaft and M40/M43 with Egg Utility stockshafts.
The M40 was way to soft in both clubs. Hope that helps.
The M43 in utility is quite very good - accurate and very long.

With your 95-100 mph ss I wouldn´t go with M40.

Which i+'s do you have? The 3, the 4? What are your yardages off the deck and tee?

so my driver swing is 102-105 and per the tsg guide there is no shaft offering for me in the i+. is this correct? if so that means this hybrid is gonna cost some serious coin...

Two new babies! Egg Spoon 15* and Egg i+ Utility 19*.

Both with M43 Shafts.

They'll be going head to head with the following for an off the deck shoot out:

Ping G15 4w w/Diamana BlueBoard 83 Stiff
Cleveland Mashie F3 15.5 w/Miyazaki 59 Stiff
Tour Edge Exotics XCG4 4w w/Motore 65 Stiff

Anyone wanna make any predictions? Distance, forgiveness, and ease of off the deck shots are my goals.

I'm gonna grab the 19. How do you like it out of the rough? Bad lies?

In stock form, your EGGs are going to be much lighter than the ones they are gonna kick :-) so give yourself some time to get used to the difference in weight and then see them out play the pretenders on a more consistnt basis in terms of length and forgiveness.

Congrats on your new weapons.

That´s correct..
You can reshaft the Eggi+ with a Miyazaki Kua (pullout off a mashie because the shafts are aftermarketshafts). The Kua launches a little bit higher than the M43 stockshaft.

Scratch that on the fairway. Stock Mashie FW shaft is too short.

The hybrid would work though. You could find a used Mashie M2 for about $50 or so.

HMMMMMM.
I wouldn´t reshaft the Egg Spoon with the Miyazaki Kua. Egg Spoon = high launching + Miya Kua = high launching...
For the Egg Spoon you should look for a mid-low launching shaft

I actually have all 4 (3 4 5 6). I usually use the 4 and 6 most times. I hit the 4 195 off the deck 200 to 210 off the tee. The 6 175 to 190. The 3+ 210 to 220 off the tee. It depends on the course. I either use (3 and 5) or (4 and 6).

Notice anything about trajectory differences between the 3 and the 4?

I'm getting the Spoon 15, so I though the 19 would match up with it nicely. If I got the Spoon 17, then I'd probably go 21.

Make sense?
Yes. Those would be good matches. All EGG CLUBS hit very high, straight and far.

Congrats on your new baby.

Going to wait for your review before I pull the trigger

Keep us up to date, please.

I have both the Egg Spoon and the Egg Utility. The Egg Utility is bar none the best hybrid out there. The first one where I didn't fight a case of the lefts.

It seems we have an Egg Utility fan club..-)
Don´t understand why PRGR don´t offer the EGG i+ 25* with M43 shaft.

The Spoon is here! It's light, certainly take some getting used to. The M43 feels WAAAAAAY different than the Blueboard in my G15 4w and my G15 driver. Havent hit any balls yet. Just goofed around with it.
Yup. That's why I gave you the heads up on the weight and feel. But lighter if not over done helps a bot with swing speed ... GIve yourself time to get used to it and not just the weight, the setup (how close/far you address, ball position). The shaft, despite it being lighter and "feeling" softer can take a beating so don;t be afraid to go after it. They look a bot weird and you flight mates wil take a stab at you but once you arer used to it, take out your spoon 15 when they take out their driver... you may not outdrive them but they will be shocked at how a simple ol 3W kept up with their big dog :-) Welcome to forgiving distance.
