I have a set that I know is from '71 and the 's' and 'o' aren't connected, so I'm afraid you're wrong about that one.

I've been playing and collecting Staffs since '89 and I have yet to see an original set of button backs where the S and O aren't connected. Post some pics of the clubs showing the original shaft bands and the red/black/green shaft flex identifier and perhaps I'll reconsider my opinion.
