Hitting it thin or fat

videos included
im playing golf for 3 years now and im still working on my swing a lot.
my constancy is quite bad (especially on "bad days") as im hitting many balls either fat or thin.
apart from that, i struggle with occasional slices or hooks, but its getting better (also getting mx-25s instead of the mp-37s i play now will help i hope).

one thing i notice especially in the "down the line" video is that i bring down my head a lot at takeaway.

here are the videos i recorded today:

Well first off congratulations on a good looking swing, especially after only 3 years. :drinks:

I'm not expert, but from the video it looks like you have the ball a little too far back in your stance and that you are trying to scoop the ball versus extending your arms and hitting down on the ball.

Try hitting into an impact bag to get the proper feeling of extending your arms.

I'm not very good at writing what I want to say at this moment... :cheesy:

But I'm sure others will chime in and help...

At the top of your swing your right leg has straightened while there should be a bit of flex in it. You have a touch of a flying elbow. Your right elbow is moving too far away from your side it should be a bit more connnected. The clubface is slightly closed at the top but not much. Also your swing is ever so slightly flat and you are coming into the ball form the inside. I would guess your normal shot is a draw. But overall for a guy who is only playing 3 years it is quite a good swing.

thanks for the hints, i`ll work on it.

i wouldnt say my normal shot is a draw because my normal shot also is a slice, hook, thin or fat shot :drinks:

Great swing for a guy who has only played for 3 years :) :pimp:

As Ken states you might get more efficient ball contact if you try to place the ball a bit further forward in your stance, while still hitting down on the ball with your irons.

You have a marginal flat swing and you could probably work on the same thing as I also work on - keeping your arms marginally closer to your body when swinging back, but still I find your swing great with only 3 years routine 'in your bag' :smilie_titty:

Keep up the good work and you will in 2-3 years time swing like Adam Scott or Luke Donald :smilie_titty:

i would agree and maybe move your ball up more in the middle of your stance...

looks like you're getting a little "stuck" coming into the ball...

take these advice with caution though, i've only been playing for 5 months... LOL...

i read and study alot though... i think i know what i am supposed to do... it's just executing for me... DUH...!

most everything looks great. I would agree with the one person on your right leg not maintaining the proper flex but it is not too much of a problem. The biggest thing you can work on is to move the ball about 2 more balls forward as the one guy pointed out, also your takaway is too fast and too much to the inside causing you to be too flat. The problem comes in when you swing back on an inside plane then at the top you try to swing more inside that. That is why you have had to move the ball back on your stance to make solid contact. Your tempo is a little inconsistant. That is where I was say too fast off the ball. If you notice in your takaway you go from fast off the ball then slow it down from about hip level up. If I were you I would work on trying to hit about 75 cut shots with a 9 iron. Open your body some and play the ball a little further up in your stance. Make sure you release the toe through the hitting area and I am sure you will see much improvement.

Just my opinion here!

For inconsistent strike is because:

To much movement on your lower body ( just like Olan said ), this way you are not maintaining your spined angle.

Remember Faldo on his best day? Fanny, his caddy use to hold his right knee during his back swing to keep it quite. Try to maintain your flex angle on your right knee and be as quite as possible, especially during back swing.

Second, I can't really see clearly on the video...you might have a slight casting problem at impact on your wrist. Try to maintain the wrist angle at impact, so at least your hand is slightly ahead of the ball at impact. Are you a high ball hitter?

Hope that 's help!

BTW, Like every one said here, for 3 years...you got an good looking swing form already. Just need to be polish!

Pretty good swing if you ask me ! nice acceleration through the ball !

My only concern as an amateur would be that i think that you don't hinge your wrists enough on the backswing. Thus, your backswing looks a bit "rigid" and i think you would gain some yards by hinging your wrists a little.

I am no Pro so i'll let others comment on what i just said :)
