Good LA/OC Practice Facilities...

Where do you work on your game?

Im trying to find new practice areas in the area to work on my game; preferably within a 25 mile radius of Anaheim.. Been researching LA/OC courses practice areas and am having a tough time getting a clear picture from reading forums, course websites, and google satellite flyovers of the facilities.

Where do you fellow LA/OC golfers practice?
If you feel an inkling to respond, please provide some of the following details for your favorite spots...


Grass or Mats on Range?
Distinguishable landing targets to aim at? (not just a random poles / and that you can tell if you land in the vicinity)
Fairway bunker at range?
Are range balls pricey?

Putting Greens (undulating portions to work on breaking putts?)
Chipping area (to a real green?)
Long enough chipping green to work on bump and runs?
Pitching area (to a real green? / length?)
Practice bunker with multiple flags/distances?
Is there a fee for short game practice area?


Lately the only time i really get to work on short game is when there is no one else on the actual course and even then its only in short spurts. Would love to find some good places where I can spend a couple of hours on it.

[color="#1c2737"]No, just poles. You can see things land fine for about the first 175 yards, then it just gets kind of hazy. Could be my bad vision, or the range balls losing their whiteness. I would guess its about 320 to the back.[/color]

[color="#1c2737"]Its quite cheap actually. $5 range card gets you about 50, $10 around 120, and so on and so forth. [/color]

[color="#1c2737"]Two putting greens with about 9 holes each, one of them does have some breaking putts, but really only on 3 of the holes. [/color]

[color="#1c2737"]Not a real green, but they have a cage like structure with two small "greens" with a flag in the center. They have an artificial surface (that feels pretty real) and actual turf to hit off of in there. This is where I felt most comfortable working on my flop shot since there is a net completely surrounding everything. If you blade it the ball will end up on the other side 6 feet off the green. If you are the only one in there you can hit to the other green and work on 35-40 yard pitches.[/color]

[color="#1c2737"]There is a practice bunker in the cage, but its more like a 15 foot deep crater in between both pitching greens. Don't understand why its in there, you can't really work on anything.[/color]

[color="#1c2737"]Chipping/Pitching Cage area is free, you just have to leave your ID at the pro shop, then they'll give you a key. You can't bring range balls in there, so you need to bring your own shag bag.[/color]

Oak creek in Irvine, doesn't get much better than that. Grass always unless it has just rained, greens with pins for targets, great short game area with bunkers, great putting green with decent breaks. I think it's 16 bucks for a large bag but the cost is worth it for the quality.

Practice chipping is 11 bucks for two hours.

Strawberry Farms in Irvine when it's on the grass has significantly better grass than Oak Creek's range. Excellent putting greens (with more than the 3 holes cut that Oak Creek usually has).

Large bucket 15, medium 8, small no idea b/c its barely any balls. Pretty nice facility with greens with pins to hit at, bunkers on the range to force you to fly it to hole, etc. That's where I practice most times.
