Courses in Charlotte, NC

Headed to Charlotte 5/16-5/20 and want to play 36 on 5/17 (thursday). Ballentine has an event that day and I can get onto Carmel CC but only for 18. Any other recommendations? I belong to a semi-private club in Richmond, VA and could have my pro get me onto a private course in that area assuming it wasn't ultra exclusive. Any suggestions on which courses to check out? Will be staying at the Westin Uptown in Charlotte. Thanks.

The Peninsula Club. Have your Pro call and get you on (not hard)....great golf course with a ton of views of the lake.

May want to check out The Point golf course which is a Greg Norman designed course that has some fantastic lake views.
Trump just bought the entire establishment as well. Its apparently going to be named Trump Charlotte

Also Palisades and Firethorne are a great place to play. I think Firethorne does/did hold the monday qualifiers for The Wells Fargo @ Quail Hollow.
Palisades just had a big cash infusion and is in great shape right now!

Carolina Golf Club is a solid Ross course restored several years ago by Kris Spence.

Raintree is 36, I thought it was goof for the (reasonable) money. Private, have your pro call ahead.

I played TPC Piper Glen and is was outstanding. Highly recommended.

What about golf shops in the area ? I will be going down in a few days to visit my fiance and id like to get a feel for whats around. Ultimatley im hoping to find a non big box store that may be hiring

I may bring the sticks, any suggestions on someting thats not too pricey ? (under 100 for 18)

And also any suggestions on privates/semi privates in the area, i would like to check a few out. Once i relocate we plan on joining somewhere.

How did the Quail thing work out? Not exactly the type of course you can just stroll into and play. Hope you know a member
