Cameron Circa 62 #5

Is there something I don't know?

WRXers, I've got a question for you.

I recently received a brand new, unopened (still in the bag) Cameron Circa 62 #5. Besides the fact that I'm not about to replace my gamer (I'm more of a plumber neck kind of guy), I didn't want to add a #5 to my collection. I posted it here, at just over $200, and had no takers.

So, last week, I posted it on eBay. I listed it at $175 with free shipping (and no reserve). Not only did I not get any bids, but I had only one watcher.

Why are people willing to pay upwards of $249 for this stick at brick and mortar stores, but I can't get $175 (all inclusive)? There must be something I don't know...some reason the #5 isn't in demand...

Just looking for an informed perspective. Thanks in advance.

Mallets just aren't as poplular as other designs. Also, I believe $175-$179 is what you will find for it at discount stores new. If you drop it to around $150, it would probably move.

my recommendation to you whitehead, as long as your not strapped for cash, is to sit on the thing....my guess is that the #5 is going to be distributed at a rather low cost and unfortunately, these beautiful putters will get beat up and knocked around solely because somebody didn't shell out a lot of $$$. If you sit on a brand new one, especially one with a leather grip still in the plastic, you'll be able to demand top dollar. I don't see these going the way of the Caliente by any means. The material in which the Circa series putters are may from is second to none, and the gun metal finish never goes out of style. So to you, I suggest leaving it in that box for a rainy day years from now when your putter is the only one left in mint original condition.

I'm also looking at having a plumber neck fabricated for it, which might make it more appealing to both my eye and the market.

 

Anyone else have $.02 to share?

The #5's just never were a big hit like the rest. One of the big problems was people not liking the sole on it being concave like it was. Iwouldn't try doing the plumbers neck on that one. It doesn't work too well. It does look good on a red X though. LOL

 

There...that's my 3 cents. LOL

IMHO, its an ugly putter. Love the #2, and #3 though

Dump it for $150 if you need a few bucks now or hang onto it for a good clip. They aren't making anymore #5's. Maybe it'll appreciate from a collectors standpoint ;)

It really wouldn't ever be a collector as it's just a regular OTR. Now, if it was a Sales Sample, 1/500 or Asian Spec that would be a different story.
