Cape Golf Question

Hi, can anyone confirm that my buddies and I will be able to throw back a few beers on Ballymeade and Cranberry Valley on the Cape? We are going down this weekend and don't want any surprises. I know CV changed policies recently, and want to be sure it's not confined to the clubhouse. Thanks

I can't speak for Ballymeade, but there is a beer cart at Cranberry Valley.

Update: both Ballymeade and Cranberry Valley allow beer out on the course.

Onto the golf: I hadn't played either course before, and here's a brief rundown.

Ballymeade's layout was tough and was definitely a shot placement course. Quite challenging and tight at times, as well as difficult tee shots if you haven't played there. GPS helped slightly, but not much. As for the greens, I wasn't impressed at all. They were spotty, and hairy in areas, as well as bumpy and inconsistent. Still had a great time.

Cranberry Valley I absolutely loved once we got past the antics on the first tee. Course is in phenomenal shape and the greens were rolling mint. Fair course, but challenging at the same time. We unfortunately had 13 guys, a 4some and three 3somes, and of course here comes a single with a push cart. I paid the course $87 per guy in advance and called to talk to them about us all going out. I would understand any other day, but sorry, you can't put a single with a group of 13 guys. The guy eventually said he would wait, but I gave the clubhouse a peace of my mind. Arghh.

Playing Ballymeade in a couple weeks. You played there this past weekend and the greens were iffy? ouch and surprising seeing they aerated in early April. Did you play anywhere else outside of these two courses? How hard was it to get back-to-back times at Cranberry Valley?

I played Quashnet Valley and Bayberry Hills this weekend, having never played either before.

Quashnet *just* aerated, and with a little swampage on many of the holes, I wouldn't play there anytime soon again.

Bayberry (Red/White... didn't play the 'Blue links'), night and day difference to Quashnet. Greens were rolling quite nicely and albeit some challenging pin locations, had a great time. Yes, there are many trees strategically placed on the longer holes and although it's tree lined, almost any ball that went into them were locatable (and my 3W seemed to send many to the right).

I'd play Bayberry again in a heartbeat.

I love Bayberry, great track, however, I believe they are aerating this week, so they are out. Playing Old Barnstable on Friday and Hyannis and Ballymeade on Saturday morn/afternoon - I was told by Ballymeade that they already aerated (called about two weeks ago) and Olde Barnstable/Hyannis aerated back on 4/28. Coming from Central-MA, we're playing Waverly in Plymouth on the way down and Pinehills on the way home, Waverly only aerates in November and I got an email from Pinehills that they are not doing a spring aeration.

Yes, played Bally this past Friday, I thought I recall them saying they did not aerate this spring. The greens had hairy spots on them which caused bumps. I don't know if it was because that hadn't been rolled or mowed give the weather last week, but there were several putts that veered off my line or were bumpy, and I consider myself an above average putter. Besides that, it is a nice challenge.

As far as CV, I booked through Bayside Resort and they booked my tee times for me in advance. If you want advanced tee times on your own, you can call the clubhouse and send them a check to lock them up.
