My attempt at slicefixer

Recommended Posts

Hi all. Been working on my swing lately and would like some feedback. I feel like I have no trouble compressing the ball on 9-3's, but am struggling with the forearm rotation on the longer swings. My miss right now is hitting my longer irons off of the toe. I'm hitting my wedges and short irons well, and feel confident with my driver, but something about the long irons, especially when i have them teed up, I seem to hit every one off the toe. The camera work was a little shoddy today, and on a few shots you cant see the ball, I apologize for that. Any thoughts or criticism would be great. Thanks.

My thoughts/questions after watching them some more, maybe they will get some conversation started: I don't know if i have enough spine tilt/ right knee kick in?. It looks like I have very little wrist ****, maybe i need to be more actively cocking my wrists upwards while taking the club back? My swing seems like it could be a little flat, should i be taking it back more upright and then flattening in the transition?

Not enough hip tilt at address.wrists are not completely set.A little flat

suggestions
1 play the ball at the middle of your stance with a wedge
2.You need to create some hip tilt at setup .you do this by kicking you right knee down and in at setup. This will align your lower and middle spines slightly away from the target(6-8 degrees) , brace your right knee and place some weight on the inside of your right foot,Then all you need to do is to windup around this tilted spine going back.Although you will naturally lose some of the right knee brace going back on full swings ,you should try to maintain as much of it as possible to help create more of the elastic stretch needed to semi-automate the downswing.
3 with a wedge and very short irons you need to set up in a reverse k(left hip, knee, heel in a vertical line)This will minimize the need for lateral movement going down with these short clubs.
4.in your takeaway try to have the clubface FACE the ball for a little longer .this will make your takeaway less inside

5 Now the more difficult part, getting a full set of the wrists.About 1/2 of top golfers have their wrists completely by 9:00.Most of the rest do so by the top of their backswing.A small number do so in transition. But virtually all of them do so by the end of transition.By not doing so you rob yourself of some of the necessary leverage to take your game to a higher level. Unfortunately ,you have developed a habit of not setting your wrists completely ,so you are going to have force yourself to do so.Among the ways to this is to make sure that you feel that your wrists are really set at the VERY BEGINNING of your downswing and aids such as the Swingyde which do the same ,but with more feedback. You do not have to try to hold this wrist set on the downswing.Your pivot will do this automatically.
6 Another problem is that you seem to start your downswing from the hips. Now some people do this successfully, but in your case you move your upper body a little laterally when you move the hips. This reduces your secondary axis tilt a bit and makes your downswing less efficient.A better thought is to start your downswing from the ground up, as all great players do.You do this via really pressuring your left heel in transition. This will quickly pull your hips laterally ,but it should help you to leave behind the rest of your upper body

Thanks russ. I think I really need to over-exaggerate the feel of the hip tilt to get into the proper position. I'm going to mess with this and take some new videos. I'm thinking if i get that setup down better it will help with starting the downswing more with the lower body and less with the hips. The wrist set feels very weird to me, maybe i'll pick up a swingyde to help with getting them to fully set. Thanks for the reply. I'll try to get up some new videos in a few days and see what you think.
