My Swing - rate, criticize and analyze!

Recommended Posts

Recorded my swing, found a couple of things worth improving, edited the video files into one, and uploaded for you to enjoy - as long as you enjoy to analyze, comment, criticize etc. :-D

Please let me know what you think! I'm not entirely satisfied with the swing myself, but right now it seem to work, and I'm not going to make any significant swing changes until I stop playing better than my handicap.

Solid swing, what is your h'cap?

If you can reduce the backward rock during the takeaway, I think you will get more consistent.

My handicap is 8.9 currently. Only had two full rounds of golf so far this year, and I'm aiming at ending the season at abount 7-7.5

The backward rock is an unconscious move, and didn't even know I was doing it until I saw the video. Have to get rid of that!

Cool video, I like the overall swing for sure and you can play good golf with what youre working with. My only suggestion(keeping it simple) is to widen a touch and rotate on that rear leg - itll help in not swaying as much and cut down on wild shots swaying produces at times(hooks/blocks).

Thanks!

Haven't thought of widening the stance, but I see the logic, and I'll give that a try, as well as changing mindset from weight-shift to rotation with regards to the rear leg, next time I go to the range.

Wild shots can ruin a whole round, and it's definitely my main concern - last round it resulted in a triple and a double bogey on a round where I shot 80.

Before working on your downswing, you need to fix your backswing.Currently you hardly coil going back .This is because of lateral movement(sway loading)at your hip s and head going back When you sway load like this you alter your spine angle . force your eyes to recalculate the distance to the ball, change your low point and increase the distance that you need go on the downswing to establish your left pivot point. You also disconnect your left arm going back .Lateral movement going back can be directly traced to your setup. At setup ,you need to tilt your spine 6-8 degrees away from the target.see my post #4166 on the 9-3 forum on how to do this.Your head should also be tilted by the same amount. From this position at setup ,all you need to do is to rotate around your tilted spine going back.No lateral movement going back at all.You also need to keep your left arm connected throughout the swing. You do this by placing a small nerf ball/credit card deep inside your left armpit and do not drop it until well after impact

Definitely need to eliminate the huge lateral shift in the back swing. Try kicking your right knee in and don't move your weight past the inside of the right foot on the back swing. Also, you seem to have very little wrist hinge, if you can add some you will definitely gain some power.

Kicking the knee in makes sense, and it is also related to what russc recommends. Definitely have to focus on having the wheight shift on the inside of the right foot. My wrists won't hinge more I'm afraid, I have quite rigid wrists. Working on some stretches though.

Great answer, thank you very much!

So to sum up, I have to:
- Kick in the right knee (K-shaped)
- Keep the weight on the inside of the right foot
- Keep left arm connected
- Tilt spine and head at adress

Will study the 9/3 thread a bit more, and I think I will hit the range later today to work on the above points.
