Tiger's Prototype Driver

Hey guys just wondering what you thought of these pics of Tiger's Prototype Driver (1 of many I am sure)....notice anything different about the face and the lack of markings on the sole?!?!?!/

looks alot like the ignite tiger proto. this looks like the "switch over" driver to his ignite. vertical grain on the face looks the same. bet head size is too. the place where the loft goes has the TW logo on the ignite proto.

Looks very 975d-ish to me? Perhaps because of the scoring lines?

A friend of mine once got one of Tiger's 975D backups from Butch Harmon. as far as I know he was the one who started roughening the face up vertically with grit paper so Tiger could work the Ball better. So that looks very familiar on that Nike Proto.

 

Would be interesting to see what shaft is in that head. The old 975 hab a TT DG x100 in it tipped to the max, it basically felt like it was built for a recommended Swingspeed range of.... Speed of Light..... or even Ridiculous Speed

not the ignite proto, but the original nike forged driver. i think it might be the 275cc version, but unlike the retail model, it has the titanium face. nike briefly had him using a forged driver, but then he went back to the 975D until they finaly got him in the ignite family. the ignite drivers have the same sole with the 4 slight channels towards the back. on the picture below, my ignite 340 tw is on the left and my forged 350 ti is on the right.

When I recieved the driver it had a tour sticker that said 410cc and 9.5* of loft, which would probably be considerably to much loft for Tiger.....shaft is Graphite Design Prototype X which can be seen in My Gallery. I have a Tour Ignite head 410cc, 9.5*, GD Purple Ice and the Tiger proto driver goes about 10 yards farther. Needless to say a really solid driver

Lots of rumors about the first driver looking very similar to Tourstage/Bridgestone models.

this was a very old proto he had this driver at the america express when he did that clinic that is on his dvd about 99 00 i think maybe this was well be4 ignite and wel well be4 the sq would of even been thought of ive owed one of those and it wasnt half bad

there was a nike retail driver that looked exactly like this but you can tell this is tour because of the diamond shape dots on the sole towards the heel

Are you sure about those dates? Nike didn't release that club to the public til about 2002. Seems unlikely that a protoype would be out (even in Tiger's hands) 3 years beforehand.

no i was thinkin the pics above are of a prototype driver when nike first tried to take him to nike clubs when he had the 970d i think ermm i ment the protos is of the t40 driver and im not sure about dates
