Like a Black Max, really? Wow. I'll have to give these a try.

I'm looking forward to hearing how they compare to NXT Tours. I'd love something in the middle between the NXT's and the B330 line of Bridgestones.

I finally got out yesterday and tested these against the Nike Juice and the Titleist NXT (just for comparison, and the fact that my almost brother in law gave me 2 dozen!). All I can say is, this ball rocks. It's long. I don't think I hit one under 270 with this one yesterday and it was kinda chilly here in maryland. It also fealt surprisingly good off of the irons and wedges. I can't say much about spin because I haven't played much and I forgot how to really do that, but it held the green with a cut 4 iron and a hard 6 (they didn't just roll up, they landed on the green close to the pin). And it feels nice off the putter. Better than the NXT (the regular, not the Tour, that's it's next competitor) and way better than the Juice. This may be the ball for me this year, and at 20 bones a dozen, that's a nice possibility.

Just started playing this ball at my local course - hard as nails course ... Shorecliffs in San Clemente.

At 6100 yards from the way back blue tees ... the slope is 132. Narrow with a ditch on one side of almost every hole & ice plant on the other side. Nasty & you go thru balls if you are not a straight hitter.

The mens club calls our course "The Ditch" & thats how you find us - www.golftheditch.com"

*

I needed to practice without going thru my Pro V1's - obviously.

So I took a chance & bought a dozen to play my home course.

*

Turned the corner on hole #1 - same distance as the Pro V1. Slight headwind. Need to draw it. Same as always. I was pleased & very surprised.

*

Hole #9. Need a fade - slightest tailwind (like usual but not always) - 325 carry. Left me 102 going in.

Better than any Pro V1 carry on that hole. But maybe it was a career shot. Not exactly sure.

Used my GPS device to verify results. I hate that thing BTW. Going back to a Bushnell FWIW.

*

I rate the drive same as Pro V1 ... for my swing - which is 118 mph & I use a Big Bang 450 9 degree head on a 45" Penley Stealth 70 shaft at x flex.

*

What I love is the distance on long irons. Hole #15 - a 183 to the center par 3 over a chasm.

I have always hit a 5 iron (Ping Eye2) but I never have been able to carry the center of the green - I am always on the front. Seems to be some force (wind or maybe magical down pull of the chasm ?) to keep me short. So if the pin is back .. I hit a 4 iron but choke down an inch. Well the Maxifli Fire ball carried to the back with my 5 iron. I hit another - same result.

*

So I'd rate this ball 10 yards farther on my long irons.

*

After going around my home course (played there for 15 years) - I say this about the ball:

*

Same as Pro V1 on driver.

Longer by 10 yards on the 5 & 6 irons.

Longer by 5 yards on the short irons & wedges.

The negative - Pro V1 spins better on my wedges & the Pro V1 feels softer when putting.

*

At $19/dz ... I am playing these ... both at home & in tournaments.

*

Your results may differ ...

I discovered these also this summer, and I really like them. I can feel the ball compress when I hit it. The compression is supposed to rate an 85, which would be the same as a Titleist Pro V1, but because of the cover, it just feels softer. I get a marginally higher flight profile out of the Fire ball, though, which I like. And Dick's sells them for about a buck per ball now. Not bad.

The Maxfli Tour Fire has the suryln cover, and I would say that model is much more comparable to the Titleist Pro V1 -- so, good to hit, and cheaper all around. The "regular" Fire ball is more complimentary to my game.

I have been playing these for over a year. I am a senior player witha 90+ swing speed. They are very low spin off the driver and have excellent carry and roll. The mid irons are 5 yds. longer than tour i or TP black although they do not spin as well but do hold fast greens. They were rated an excellent putting ball as when tested by putter talk. I think that Taylor Made is marketing them as the Burner TP. Both claim to have a HPF 1000 speed mantle and a orbicular dimple design that knifes thru the wind. I tried the new Z-star and the Bridgestone RX but with these balls at $9 per dozen at Rockbottom golf you can't play a better ball for the money.
