New(ish) member from near Derby, England

Thought it was about time I said hello having imparted my opinion on a number of threads so far.

 

I played golf on and off though my teens and have recently re-started playing after not touching a club for 13-14 years.

 

I can mostly be found at Charnwood Driving Range trying to hit balls over the back fence, or at Breedon Priory Academy Course blading wedges across their tiny greens.

Hello & thanks for the offer - I may well take you up on it sometime as 90% of the time I play solo and the company would be nice. I played the moorland at Breadsall Priory last month - enjoyable course, but was busy so took nearly 5hrs to get round (as a single I was aiming for 3.5hrs!).

No problem. Breadsall is always busy. Its a nice place but the corporates make it super slow all the time. Try allestree or sinfin. They are a couple of great municipals for next to no money. Otherwise horsley lodge is pretty good value and the greens are superb.

Have you ever played Ormonde Fields in Codnor? Normally kick about there most Fridays after work

Played it once years ago. Liked it apart from that par 5 that is about 1000 cards long. Ruined my card.

Nope - I'm more south east of Derby(Kegworth) and haven't really tried too many local courses yet - if I'm ever thinking of heading up that way I'll drop you a message.

Just looked up Ormonde Fields - I'm guessing you mean the 10th at 618yds with a double dog-leg? looks like a beast!!

Cheers for the heads up - had been thinking of giving Sinfin a pop; will probably be after the new year now, reckon I've done with courses for the winter.
