Sandy Update : Conditions of the Maryland / Delaware Eastern Shore courses

Don't know if you guys read the other thread, but it looks like the OC courses made it through...except for Rum Pointe. Looks like my work conference outing will still be on next week!

but it is FARED well, not FAIRED....as it fare thee well....

 

Here is up to date conditions as of this morning of most of the courses here on the Delmarva peninsula.

 

Bay Creek Resort .... Cape Charles, VA ( Nicklaus and Palmer )

Both courses need cleanup ...... Flooded fairways with salt water ( needs to be reflooded with fresh water ), flooded bunkers, trees and limbs down and cart paths on Nicklaus holes 4 and 5 washed away.

Reopen Friday

 

Bayside Resort ....... Selbyville, DE

Course was flooded on some fairways with salt water ( needed to be reflooded with fresh water ) flooded bunkers and tree limbs

Reopen Thursday

 

Baywood Greens ....... Long Neck, DE

Fared well, Flooded bunkers, some standing rain water in fairways and tree limbs

Reopen Thursday

 

Bear Trap Dunes ....... Ocean View, DE

All 27 holes fared well, flooded bunkers, two trees down and a lot of tree limbs to clean up

Reopen all 27 by Friday

 

Blue Heron Golf Club ...... Stevensville, MD

Fared well, drains well, flooded bunkers, one large tree fell and lots of tree limbs to clean up

Reopen Thursday

 

Caroline Country Club ........ Denton, MD

Fared well, two large trees fell, flooded bunkers and tree limbs and leaves to clean up

Reopen Thursday

 

Cripple Creek ....... Dagsboro, DE

Took a big hit, right on the bay, half the fairways flooded with salt water and lots of debris, major cleanup needed, trees limbs everywhere.

Reopen sometime next week

 

Deer Run ........ Berlin, MD

Fared very well, bunkers flooded and some tree limbs

Reopen today

 

Eagles Landing ...... Berlin, MD

Needs some cleanup, a few trees down, tree limbs everywhere, standing rain water in fairways and flooded bunkers

Reopen Friday

 

Glen Riddle ....... Berlin, MD

War Admiral and Man of War courses ....... Fared ok, standing rain water in many fairways, trees down on both courses, tree limbs everywhere and flooded bunkers on both

Reopen both courses hopefully by Friday or Saturday

 

Harbourtowne Golf Resort ........ St. Michaels, MD

Fared very well, bunkers flooded and some minor cleanup

Open today

 

Links at Lighthouse Sound ....... Bishopville, MD

Took a hit but not too bad, some fairways flooded by salt water ( need to be reflooded by fresh water ) some bunkers washed away and most are flooded, 6th tee damaged and multiple trees damaged and down

Reopen by Friday or Saturday

 

Ocean City Country Club ........ Berlin, MD

Took a hit, both courses flooded by salt water in some fairways and standing rainwater in some others, multiple trees down and flooded bunkers, some washed away.

Major cleanup needed

Reopen Saturday or Sunday

 

Ocean Pines ....... Ocean Pines, MD

Fared ok, trees down, many tree limbs, bunkers flooded and some standing rainwater.

Reopen Friday

 

Ocean Resort Golf Club ....... Berlin, MD

Fared ok, multiple trees down, bunkers flooded and standing rainwater in fairways

Reopen Friday or Saturday

 

Old Landing Country Club ...... Rehoboth Beach, DE

Took a big hit, multiple trees down, tree limbs everywhere, fairways and bunkers flooded

Reopen Friday or Saturday

 

Peninsula Golf Club ....... Millsboro, DE

Fared ok, tree limbs down, debris washed up onto fairways from the bay, major cleanup needed

Reopen Thursday or Friday

 

Queenstown Harbour ....... Queenstown, MD

Both courses in ok shape, standing rainwater in fairways, flooded bunkers, some trees down and tree limbs everywhere

Reopen Friday

 

Rehoboth Beach Country Club ........ Rehoboth Beach, DE

Major damage, half the fairways cover by salt water, trees down, debris everywhere,

River Marsh Golf Club ...... Cambridge, MD

Fared ok, tree limbs everywhere, two trees down, some standing rain water and flooded bunkers

Reopen Friday

 

River Run Golf Course ...... Berlin, MD

Fared ok, some tree limbs, flooded bunkers and some standing rainwater.

Reopen Thursday

 

Rum Pointe ....... Berlin, MD

No one answering phones ....... Talked to someone who lives nearby and they said that half the course was underwater ........ Doesn't sound good ....... Will follow up on this

All good here ...... Never lost power ........ Basement dry ....... House is good.
Now my family and friends didn't fair so well in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut.
My family's vacation house on LBI probably took a big hit but that is unknown since no one is allowed there yet.
A friend of mine lost his house in the Breezy Point fire in Queens.
Just awful !
