First time attending Phoenix Waste Management Open 2013

My darling wife bought me tickets for the Phoenix Open on Sunday and I'm asking if anyone has any tips for this new comer. This will be my first PGA tourney as well.

 

I obviously want to sit in the 16th hole stadium, how early should I get there to get a seat?

Any other advice and things to see/do?

 

We will also be at the Saturday night concert in the Bird's Nest :D

Other things to do would be to watch all the girls walking on a golf course in high heels, Try to get so hammered that you puke on tv during someone's back swing, and yell "mashed potatos" at every given opportunity.

The public seating area on the 16th usually fills by mid-day then there is a waiting line. Because it's the 16th, figure no golfers will come thru for an hour and a half from the first tee time so try to get there before the first group comes thru and you should have a good seat.

A couple of years ago, we got there early and got a seat in the first row. It was an hour before the first group arrived, but we decided to camp out and actually stayed thru the final group. They have food and bev right there so you don't have to leave and wait in line to get back in. A nice change of pace because we've always walked the course on previous visits.

If you want to walk, I recommend walking the course backwards, that way you get to see the most groups. When you get tired, just camp out for a while and take in the action parade style.

Another place I always liked was the big hill west of the par 3 12th hole. You can watch them play 12, see tee shots on 13, and see the 8th green all with minimal movement. And the all important concessions are close by.

The tournament is crazy busy with thousands of people, but Sunday is actually not too bad because many skip it due to the Super Bowl.

I'm heading down to the WM aswell, excited to get out of the canadian winter for 5 days and play some golf! I am staying at a buddies place who lives on the painted mountain golf course, we are going to be playing Longbow for sure, but was wondering if anyone could recommend any other courses to play while i'm there. Going to try and get at least 4 rounds in and one day at the tourney, and a couple yotes games too. Aswell good pubs and places to eat, and nightlife of course im heading down with a couple single buddies looking to tear it up!

Could've paid the $50,000 and became bubba watsons teemate for the pro am at the waste management open. The auction ended with a whopping 0 bidders.

Fun time. Lots of girls walking around for sure. Personally, I always get the ticket where you get free drink and food in the tents. Pay a little more, but worth it.

[/quote]when we were leaving, all the babes were coming in for the parties... a few years back, a reporter asked who was her favorite golfer...she had no idea that a golf tournament was even going on..
as for 16, if you are just 1 or two people, you can always find a seat...the seats near the green are just as good as the tee seats...plus you can cheer or jeer missed putts...we saw phil hit the bunker (boo), then cheer when he almost holed it....ian poulter who was playing with him gave the crowd the finger, sort of...he rubben his nose with his middle finger but he said his nose itched and he has the option of what finger to use...justing leonard was his usual no personality self.
later phil signed tons of autographs, poulter did 6 and leonard went out the back way.

did we mention the babes? of course a lot of them are tour wifes...and wear good shoes for sidehill lies when walking...all the flat surfaces are roped off for the pros..so you feel like a mountain goat...plus the wind will pick up and blow things over...

we stayed at a motel near the mall on camelback...most expensive mall I have ever seen....300 sandals....
