Going to Orlando with my wife March 6-12, 2013 Looking to play 2-3X

Hey guys, looking for some advice, maybe a couple playing partners....

My wife and I will be in Orlando celebrating our 3 yr anniversary March 6-12 (Next week) and I am looking to play a few rounds of golf. We'll be staying at the Wyndham Grand Orlando Resort-Bonnet Creek.

Looking for advice for best REASONABLY PRICED golf in the area. Will probably play morning weekday rounds, so that I can spend time with her in the afternoon/evening and during the weekend. We found out recently that she's pregnant and she's been pretty tired, so being as awesome as she is, she said I'll be sleeping in and taking naps by the pool, so you should play some morning golf....."If you insist babe! =)"

Anyways, anybody up for some golf in the morning like Friday or Monday morning? MAYBE one more day in there?

If not....could someone give me some options for golf? Less than $80/round would be great.

If you're picky about playing partners, I'm 29. been playin just over 2 yrs, hit the ball a long ways and play to about a 14. I usually hit some pretty good golf shots and hurt myself with a few strokes per round off the tee, so I won't embarrass ya, I promise.

Thanks in advance for the advice. Would love to play a round or 2 with some WRXers if any locals or fellow visitors will be there around the same time!.

Your best bet for choices under $80 is to play later in the day. Morning tee times are the most expensive. The Waldorf Astoria course is right in front of ther Wyndham. That would be most convenient, but likely will cost more than $100. The Disney Lake Buena Vista course is nearby and you can get morning tee times for $79 on Golfnow. You can get some good courses under $80 on GolfNow for pm tee times. Besides GolfNow, you should check Teetimes USA and see if they have any specials.

I'll second the Waldorf Astoria - Great course right across the street from Bonnet Creek. The restaraunt is also very good...Not cheap though (I think I paid $125 about three years ago). I think they have a spa there as well. Maybe send the wife to the spa while you play... Falcons Fire is nice for around $60.00 and I think Windermere GC around $45.00 (I got a discount sheet with the room at Bonnet Creek) there are a whole list of courses that get a $15 - 25 discount on (at least there used to be). Good Luck

I'm also going to be in orl..... Which is better Waldorf or OCN? I've played OCN both courses just wondering where I should play? Going with the family but will be a single so early morning weekday is best and if any wants to join me send me a pm. Get in on the 3/10 and don't know what days I can play but I'm thinking tue,wed or thu.

I like Waldorf better by a large margin. That being said, I wasn't impressed by OCN, which I know places me in a minority. My only issue with Waldorf is the price, they're usually a bit higher then the surrounding courses of equal quality.

Think ill play at least 1 rd at Waldorf. Which Disney course is the best?

My personal favorite is Palm. They're all very enjoyable though. Depends what you're looking for. Palm/Magnolia are where the PGA event was played. Magnolia is dotted with (go figure) Magnolia trees, same goes for palm & Palm trees. Palm is also your best bet if you'd like to see some wildlife. I've seen multiple gators every time I've played Palm. A lot of people say Magnolia, but I personally would take Palm over Magnolia any day. Can't go wrong with either though (or maybe both?). Osprey is a little bit of a "different" style course, not your typical resort course. Lots of sand, water, elevation changes, etc... LBV is a little more resort style but still very nice & very enjoyable. All have some really distinguishing holes/features & all will be in excellent condition.

Play at the Waldorf a couple of times a year when the wife and I go to Orlando. Great staff and I am always able to get paired up with someone and never had a bad experience there. Also, I love to seek out local munis and found the one in Winter Park to be pretty cool. And, lots of small shops, galleries, and eaterys to keep wifey happy in Winter Park as well. Have fun.

What course(s) would be of equal quality?

In terms of course design and average conditioning, Ritz, Disney, Celebration and Reunion, maybe Grande Pines. These courses have good layouts and above average conditioning most times out of the year. There are other courses that can compete in terms of design but conditioning can vary monthly. Waldorf is different from it's peers in that it hardly dips below $100 in peak season and $40 in the off season.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
