i have been drawing/hooking the ball with every iron lately even if i try to hit a fade. how can i quickly fix this problem?

Lie angles on your clubs might not fit you...could easily mess you up. Also are you coming over the top?

no, i come inside. I have never in my life came over the top. so i kno that is not it. my lie angle are fit for me aswell. the only club i dont hook/draw is my driver, because it is 5* open.

Hmm...are you taking it inside on the backswing? It may look like you are but you're not. I had this problem. When I put my hands forward and took my backswing it looked liked I was taking it back straight and on line but in fact I was taking it way inside and that produced a nice, solid...........hook.

1) Check your fundamentals, grip allignment, stance, posture, etc.

 

if you don't find anything

 

2) Check your take-away, if your coming at the ball from the inside there is a reasonable chance that you are bringing the clubhead too far inside your hands (i.e. flipping or fanning) on the take-away. This will flatten the rest of your swing out because your athletic ability will try to get you on plane, you will get stuck because your are unreasonably flat, and you will flip your hands in an attempt to not block the shot off the face of the earth. (I do this almost every year at some point)

 

How my pro told me I could treat this was to just do the mike weir take-away drill for a few days.

 

Also just go to a pga pro, they are there to help you improve/fix your game.

i know one of my bad habits is the amount of lag i produce. I have too much lag. could a swing with less wrists involved help me out? or would it all be based on swing plane? I am going to get my swing up on here soon. tomarrow or tuesday hopefully.

You could lag it to far behind your body and get stuck. Then your hands could be trying to compensate and you release wildly to not hit a slice and you hook it.

One thing to look at is the over rotation of the left arm to soon in the downswing. Hit a few balls trying to hang on a little bit just to see what the ball does if they start going straight your hands may be a little to active.

 

If that isn`t the problem then you may be flipping your hands because you have it stuck, because your swing is coming to far from the inside. One way to look at that is try to get your right elbo a bit more in front of your right hip on the downswing.

i know what it's like to have funky stuff happen to your swing when you think it's going fine... so does everyone else here, i'd imagine.

 

What i like to do, just try to reset my whole mental process on the swing... just stand with your feet together and hit half swings with your preferred iron ( 7 for me). It tells you a lot about your tempo, weight transition and club path. I just make easy swings, worrying about not much else other than being smooth. Usually after a dozen balls things are going somewhat straight, then every 5 balls or so i gradually increase my swing length.

 

or you could just go to someone who knows what they're talking about (PGA pro). probably your best bet.
