SF swing update. need extreme help ---DTL vid and FO vid.......

Recommended Posts

My swing has come a long way in the past 4 months or so. I got to a point about a week ago where i thought

it could not compress the ball any better, i was hitting beautiful tight trap draws and a nice fade with the driver

. However little by little something has crept up and i feel like an 18 handicap.

Iam hitting week fades ( as seen in the DTL vid), Hitting ever bigger fades with my driver and when i try my hardest to turn left and square the face i hit a massive pull.

In the FO video iam dumping my leverage early from what i can see however when i try not to extend my right arm early

i wind up catching it thin.

Some detailed help is needed....Thanks guys .

I'm not sure what your swing looked like when you were hitting it well, but I see the following things:

1) Grip looks a little weak (I could be wrong on this because it's not very easy to see in detail).
2) Taking the club back too far inside.
3) Not rotating your left arm enough in the backswing - The clubface is very closed at the top.
4) Very little rotation of the lower body on the way down. Hips are almost square at impact.

Swing looks close man, not far off. I don't like how quickly your weight shifts to your heel, specially with a short iron. Causes the hips to get too spinny, and will cause pulls and wipey fades. Notice how quickly your toes of left foot come off the ground. Thats pretty early for a short iron. Work on keeping ball/toes of left foot on the ground longer into the finish. Will help you release your posture post impact a bit better too.

FYI I've been down to Texarkana 10 times or so and had this exact problem. Some of the other slicefixer experts probably won't agree with what I told you, but I feel some players have to feel weight stay in ball of left foot longer than others. Geoff says it happens naturally, it never did with me.

Lots of Callaway Stuff

Thanks for the advice, But when i look at the vid my hips seem to be about 20 degrees open ( give or take) at impact. You could do fram by frame on
youtube by just barely sliding the mouse the right of the target slider.

Thanks for the tip, I have a problem with early extension and i found that pressuring my left heel really hard would drastically reduce it.

Sent u a PM. Pressuring the left heel can get the handle dragging quickly if you aren't careful. If you will keep weight on ball a nano second longer it will help early extension/dump and will help get rid of pulls/wipes.

Wow that explains alot, I forgot to mention that i hit about 20 "chinese fades" or hosel rockets during my range session.

I think the "pressuring the heel" is a feel for some players, but it can hurt others. Geoff has said/showed the weight shift goes from the right heel at the top of the backswing to the ball of the left foot and then to the left heel. This isn't Geoff's language, but I think there is a "load" that needs to be done. That is the thought that helps me visualize the weight transfer. It is not all just spinning back and forth. I got in a rut when I was trying to just pressure the heel, squash the bug, etc. Leads to pulls and wipes with me.

Right. Like I said...they're almost square at impact.

To be honest i started " sqaushing the bug " just for the early extension issue and not to aid in anything else. It seems the bug has bit me in the a**
here lol.

You are right.....you are throwing the club in your transition. Your clubhead speed is coming from pulling the club thru after you throw it in your transition. This is why you are hitting massive pulls to the left. Create some space by working your lower half forward and let the club fall into the slot before you pull it thru.
