Poll: Golf Destinations You Have Visited

I'll be taking a golf trip with some buddies later this year and am looking at the endless options that are available. I'm curious where the good people of this forum have been. Please let me know which of these popular golf destinations you have visited. Please only select them if you traveled there for the purpose of golf and spent the night. Please don't click Myrtle Beach if you live there. :-) Thanks!

Going to Pinehurst this weekend, going to Myrtle in May then back to Pinehurst in Sept. Also been to Crossville, TN, Grand Rapids, MI areas for golf. Hopefully Pebble area next year!

My son and I went to the Legends Resort in Myrtle Beach a few years ago, the only golf trip I've ever been on. It was very nice. They had three challenging courses and everything was right on site.

Colorado Springs has the Broadmoor. It is definitely world class with three top notch courses.
Denver has a lot of fine courses but no real golf resorts, other than maybe Omni Interlocken.
The mountains is where you will find the real gems. Along I-70 from Keystone to Grand Junction are a bunch of great resorts and courses. Hard to go wrong with any of them.

I also think that Atlanta should be added to this list as well as Charlotte, NC. I think think of resorts off the top of my head for either city but there are a lot of courses in each area that can be had for great deals online. One thing I like about those places is that the food and nightlife is great too.

Out of the places that I have played I will rank them for what it is worth. I live in Chicago but for many that is not a golf destination. If you do have an interest I would be more than happy to give my input for courses around the area.

There's not a golf course worth a range ball in Flagstaff. Plus the city is a dump.

Did you play anything else while you were in Santa Cruz or is Pasatiempo the only place you played?

DeLaveaga GC is the Muni in Santa Cruz. A fun course to play, but not a "destination" type course. It's a tight, quirky layout with some holes very reminiscent of Pasatiempo in layout. If you're looking for a place to play in the area, it's worth it. Especially at a fraction of the cost of Pasatiempo. Not really any other places to play nearby. Gotta head south toward Monterey or east toward the San Jose area to find some decent courses.

I would list Albuquerque-Santa Fe as a great destination as well. It really is Scottsdale at half the price. Paa Ko Ridge, Black Mesa, and Twin Warriors are great courses yet reasonably priced. Add UNM Championship, Sandia, Towa, and a few others, and you could spend a week there playing a different great course every day. Albuquerque is a college town with good night life and great food. Nice easy airport to get in and out of. Very under rated IMO.
