RI AM tour

Sorry to hear how the tour turned. Living in the southeast corner of CT, many of your events have been closer to me than the CT tour events, so I had contemplated entering one or two that were on the schedule. But it sounds like its washing out as the season hits summer.

My whole reason for joining was for the RyderCup thing, RI vs CT. Sounded at the time like a great plan. Got some friends interested but they've also started falling off.

I sent an email to Brian this week about the upcoming double major (one in CT and one in RI... the RI one has 5 people signed up). He essentially cannibalized the RI group/capabilitys from within and this is the icing on the cake.

I like the compeition aspect with medium to large fields. Playing aginst a few others can be done locally with friends for much less. I told him that since the RI one looks like it's also going to be cancelled this weekend, I want to be sure to be able to still play a weekend of golf and what happens if registration for tunxis closes early? Would I be too late?

I'm in it just for this year so far (I committed to the year from the start and I'll stick to it). Next year, who knows what's going to happen. I don't appreciate the constant change in scheduling that appears to favor one group (CT) over another (RI).

I'm with you on that. I've thought about sending him an E-mail with my thoughts on the whole things. Not as a way of complaining but really so he has some feedback. But ultimately I feel like t will fall on deaf ears. And honestly I have no interest in continuing in it if it doesnt change drastically. I dont see that as possible this season as I'm sure he has lost pretty much all of his RI support.

I too did this for the Ryder Cup event. A team based match play tournament would have been so much fun. But now I doubt he would even find 24 people in RI willing to show up to play it.

Lastly you know you have to question the whole thing when you look at the points standings for CT and first place is Brian himself...

I was playing Meadowbrook the same day back in April you guys were there. Someone left a "join free" card on my car for the tour. I was just getting around to signing up until reading some of these last post. Has anyone played in one of the BAGSRI tournies? I was going back and forth between the two, and I'm all set paying $150 per tourney for the golf channel tour.

I challenge anyone on this post to a persimmon challenge.

Here are the rules.. We will play 18 holes.
You must have

Only 1 wedge
And a old school blade putter

We will play like they did back before most of us were born

Anyone who is in let me know and we can plan this

Course was immaculate. But.... Unfair.

I was making great shots all day but the slope of this course is just impossible. Rough like a is open. Fescue in areas that the slope of the fairway allows bounces into it if slightly off line. I played so well but scored terribly (95) it was a very weird day. Probably the hardest course I have ever played tbh

Just got an email from RI am tour saying I owe money for canceling tourneys. This is from one with 5 players and one with 3. Lol what a joke.
Also Brian emailed saying that from now on I have to get his permission to register because I have cancelled. Screw you buddy

I am officially done with that joke of a tour

I played the bagsri. And although it was a 5 hour round it is waaaaaaay better run.

Did he owe money when at the last minute. He canceled a 2 day weekend major?? Or when some one signs up..plans the day to play and he canceled due to no one signing up?

That's terrible.. He offered a RIamtour league.. We all signed up and he doesn't have the people playing he thought.. He Should take ownership in that. Maybe he should spend more time emailing the other members who haven't played in any tourneys.. Not the few of us that actually have played

I played the bagsri. And although it was a 5 hour round it is waaaaaaay better run.
[/quote]By way better, you mean he doesn't cancel because Jim has commited people that show up? ;)

I played BagsRI last year and I got tired of the 5.5-6 hr rounds. That really did it in for me with that group. I have only had two rounds over 5 hours this year with the Brian tour. (Name seems to change often too). What enticed me to switch from BagsRI was the Ryder Cup at the end of the year, but it's a shame that those who signed up to play RI events with the Brian... disappeared (or... did he have enough in the 1st place?). Another thing that happened is those that lived near RI from CT would play RI events... until the time he started scheduling multiple events on the same day, where the CT people would play in CT and the RI entrants dropped off the registration lists.

Those that did sign up (very few) got screwed by him cancelling because he didn't have the numbers to support the continuation of a RI group. That leaves a bad taste in those (like myself and the few here) that wanted to play and did sign up. Then the changes.to points etc... much of the blame shoudl be shouldered by Brian by scuttling it from within. It was ambitious however I do give him credit for trying. The demand wasn't there (as he thought) to support it. As far as saying those that signed up owe him money, however... that's just not right. He cancelled it. I'd communicate with him clearly on that matter. (And by clearly, I'd tell him where he can find it).

Then there's those like me that wanted to just play golf no matter where or how far. The past few events I emailed Brian and said that if RI has enough entrants, than I'd prefer to play RI events. But if he was going to cancel, I'll play the CT events. And that's what I did.

Just look back on this thread and see how many people even here mentioned they couldn't make events, however valid the reason.

Not trying to be the apologist. ;) But to me, it's a business decision to cut bait that he offered the tour, but couldn't support it because he didn't have the people he thought he'd have. How much did it cost to sign up to play the Brian tour again? ;) IMHO, he should just cancel it now before getting anyone elses hopes up.

I kind I agree. It's too bad because at the start if this thing I was very gung-ho about dining up and playing events. I played the first three in a row and then it seems like they started getting cancelled for lack of support. That's why I haven't signed up for any more. I feel like I played a god number of them. I was all set to play in a bunch and then the bottom fell out on it. Seems like after I played at Potowamut it all went down hill. After that the two I was registered for got cancelled. So I haven't signed up for any others, since I'm not about to plan my vacation days an ten have it not happen.

Like you said Imp, it is to bad. Because in theory it's an awesome idea and I was really pumped to play. The Ryder cup was my biggest draw. Although I haven't played since Poto, im still in a position to be on the team. But I guess we will have to see what happens.
