does it really hold a full set?????

Calling for your photos of mini stand bags holding a full set.

In a recent post a few guys said that the Sun Mountain mini is the greatest stand bag AND
, they said, it holds a FULL set of clubs:

A few other posts said they are a great bag BUT were sceptical about the 14 club part.

Anybody got any pictures of a mini stand bag ( any make) holding a full set of sticks???

Yes, I went to a store and placed 14 clubs in it but they were so close together that I would not purchase the bag - Besides, it has those thin straps of the 3.5SL

 

Clubs too close, straps too thin. I can't imagine that you'd not have some sticky-itis with clubs.

 

But my local guy did call the SM Rep and SM will put the Lightning's thicker straps on the small bags - 3.5 SL and I'd imagine, the Mini.

If you would use one on the course you would change your mind. It is SOOOO much easier to carry and lighter that for 90% of the time when I don't need to stuff a lot of extra garbage in the bag it is perfect.

 

I have a SM 3.5 as well and I use that to store my clubs when not playing, to go to the range or those very rare days when I need to put more then a sweater or rain suit in the bag.

 

Its tightish for 14 clubs but it does no damage to them, its not hard to find a club and get it in and out of the bag and its only for the 4 hours you are playing.

 

If you walk often and carry your bag and you want something to make you life easy when you play then the mini is perfect. Use your other bag for storage or other non- on the course things.

I just got my SM Mini this month and I'm upset I didn't get one earlier. If you're an organized walker, you'll find this bag very satisfying. Here's a pic and you can find a full review on the Gourmet Golfwrx blog

The mini is cool but for less than 1 extra pound I think I would go the the Super Lite 3.5.

SM is doing a lot with the SL 3.5.

 

First, they come out with the H20 Bag and now, voila, the HUG System on the 3.5.

 

Basically, it looks like a traditional strap system with an open belt designed to take weight off the shoulders - like a backpack system.

I was looking at that HUG system on Sun Mountains web site last night and trying to imagine just how the thing works. Looks interesting, but I can't fathom how you would get that on and off your waist very easily. I thought SM did a poor job of having it on their site with no info or explaination.

My guess is that the HUG is attached to the bag itself and after you put on the traditional straps will bring the bag closer to your back when the open belt is wrapped around your waist alleviating some strain and possibly, some weight.

sun mountain just came out with a new bag called the Swift, and i think the Swift is the way to go. It is slightly bigger than the mini, but smaller than the superlight 3.5. It has a 7.5 inch 2 way top. the mini has a 4 way top, which takes up space in the top and makes clubs difficult to get in and out. i think there is a picture on their new website.

also, i just heard from a local club pro here that sun mountain is going away from the Hug and coming out with a new system called Zero G. It is a padded velcro hip belt thingy that takes almost all the weight off your shoulders/back. he says the hug was too difficult to sell because of sizing issues, and it only works well when sized and adjusted properly. the zero g is apparently much better and easier.

walking is getting much easier with these bags!!

I love my mini. The only problem is when you're cleaning your clubs and you try to get more than one club out at a time or trying to put more than one in at a time. Other than that, it's great.

I love my Mini...

Much depends on your grips. I have the Decade Dual Compound and the clubs come out fine. It is certainly not a staff bag, and many times I have to put the bag straight upright to pull out or get in. My legs feel the difference after 18...no question. It is amazing what 1 or 2 lbs. can do at the end of 18 holes.

Spot on here. Totally agree.

I try not to carry 14 in mine when I use it instead of my Vantage. I try to leave out 4 iron and a wedge to eliminate some of the club tangle with the rubber grips on my clubs.
