Newbie here... History of Tiger Woods Irons...

Hey all. I'm a newbie on this forum and have a general question... perhaps if this is not in the correct place you can direct me where it would be best suited.

 

I read a guy today that is saying that the Nike irons TW was playing prior to 2009 were actually Mizuno tech stamped with a swoosh... Add that one to so many stories I've heard about TW's iron's not being "real" Nike's and I don't know what to think...

 

Anybody got any insight on this?

I personally love any topic that might have some kinda of conspiracy theory or secret rumors about it! Anyways, to get the ball rolling, I was told it was Miura irons he was playing. But I'm not a reliable source on this topic.

Nike doesn't forge clubs.....infact no manufacturer does.....its all farmed out to endo or few others...

mizzy has their own forging house but its not mizuno....they forge airplane stuff and industrial supplies I think but exclusive to mizzy for golf

miura and maybe few others but in general....

titleist, cally, TM...etc do not forge irons

I thought the conspiracy was that Miura made his Titleist irons, not his Nike irons.

Tiger when he was young played ping eye 2's I believe. Later on he played mizuno mp29's for some time. Moved to titleist then nike I believe. He has probably played many different brands over the journey and I could be wrong about the ones I mentioned above. I am pretty sure I have heard these stated as facts.

since his Titleist days until now,Tiger's irons all have spun welded hosels, and I believe Miura have the patent on that tech. I guess that where the Miura forges Tiger's Nike irons rumor is coming from.

This is what I know and what I have heard. Tiger used mizuno irons when he was an amateur and he switched to Titleist when he became a Titleist staffer. The Titileist irons were Miura forged. When Nike first sponsored Tiger the Nike irons were miura forged also. At that time Miura was forging for macgregor and other brands. This was when all American companies still did not know how to forge. However, now I am not sure who forges for who, I thought nike titleist etc, forged themselves? and Bridgestone is still endo forged, that was what I knew until now.

Yeah, when tiger switched to nike from titleist, nike made basically an exact copy of the titleist blades. So who ever forged for titleist also forged those for tiger.
