Less crowded courses in Myrtle Beach

I will be in MB in a couple of weeks and plan on playing 18 holes at some point. It will be me and my brother in law and we'd prefer to play alone; not paired with another twosome. Can anyone recommend a less crowded course that isnt overly difficult? We are staying on the south end of S. Ocean Blvd. Played Wicked Stick last year so looking for something different.

No golf course down here in Myrtle will automatically let you play as a twosome unless you pay for four players. Simple as that.

Right now afternoons are thinning out at almost every course because of temp, and you more than likely could find somewhere that was not busy and get out as two.

A couple suggestions would be Whispering Pines, The Witch, The Wizard, The Hackler Course at CCU for lower priced courses that won't be too busy. Also could check out Myrtle Beach National to see what kind of deals the have going.

Drive south to Pawley's Island. Play True Blue and Caledonia.

yeah those courses hardly get any play I'm sure they will let a twosome who "don't want to play with anyone else" out no problem... :cheesy:

I didn't realize that getting out as a twosome was such a funny matter. A simple "that's probably not going to happen" would probably suffice. Although last year at Wicked Stick we booked a twosome and they didnt put anyone with us.

That said, I'm not going to ask a course if we can play by ourselves; if they pair us up, its no big deal. I was just hoping to find something a little less busy where it was more likely.

Sorry, It was the suggestion of getting out as a twosome on two of the most popular courses in MB area(Caledonia & True Blue) that i was laughing at

The time you are comming is not a huge golf time so courses will be slower and less crowded. 2somes will be difficult unless you know someone.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Anyone played Blackmoor?

Check out http://www.mbga.com/ supposedly unbiased reviews I've found them to be pretty accurate , a lot of insider type information i.e, "recent change of management and course has gone downhill or improved"... "known for slow rounds etc..."

I dunno how it is down there but there's a few courses up here that if we arrive at the crack of dawn they'd let us have the course before the first official time of the day...maybe that's an option depending on how strict the maintenance folk are about guys on the course a few minutes before the first official time.

Pick the right time of day...usually afternoon at Myrtle Beach and you shouldn't have a problem. Just request it and usually they will recommend a time or say probably not going to happen. Then, you know what to do. Also, I take my son who is just learning the game and I tell them that. Usually they will recommend a good time to play alone. Pick the less popular courses and drive a little way and get away from things if necessary. You shouldn't have a problem. Right now most courses there are begging for business and their customer service is good.

Blackmoor will be more than willing to accomodate a twosome and they will get you out with no problem. The staff there are super nice guys, much more so than any other courses around there I have experienced and I am down there quite often throughout the year. Its in Murrell's Inlet right off 707. Very fun course and probably my favorite other than Caledonia.
