HELLO!

I'll cut this up a bit, I've been golfing entirely too long.

I cannot believe it has taken me this long to register for a Golf forum. I've been swinging the sticks every since I was 3yrs old and my Father choppd down a set of Hogan Blades, I can actually still remember the first time I swung a golf club like I was supposed to. From ages 3-7 I played a little, hit MILLIONS of balls back and forth(and off the house, dog, car, etc...) with my special chopped down clubs that I thought were so cool at the time! AGE 8 I began striking the ball with what I can remember being the first of my "Divot taking shots". Luckily I have always had access to good equiptment and machines. I have had the luxury of either my Father building my clubs or doing so myself. I put my first driver together at 13. I was young, I wanted all the latest and greatest stuff. I had the Cleveland wedges, I had the Proforce gold shafts in all my wood before you saw people using them. When I was 12 my father built up a set of the Original Callaway Big Bertha irons with 3" removed. They were cool, I thought I was cool. At the age of 12 for the first time I step foot on a professional 18holes of golf I shoot a 99 from the red tee's, still have the scorecard. I am hooked.

14-18 I messed around with clubs more than anything as I got around to learning how to adjust Loft/Lie and bend hosels, very nice stuff to have access to.

My entire golf world change one fateful day on a trip to Good Will at the age of 14. This day I would find a 2,3,4,5,7,8,9, PW Almost new Wilson Staff FG-17 Tour Blade. I buy them up for $80, missing a six iron. As soon as I get them home I am eager to hit.

My Jaw drops open. Did someone put butter between the ball and the club? THAT FELT AWESOME.

At age 17-19 I switched to Tour Balata 100's, Shot my first game in the 70's. Learned why wound balls don't like sharp things.

Fast forward...

HI!

Today I am 28.

I still hit those same FG-17s from age 14 today. Been in my bag for 14years, and not once have I considered taking them out. I can hit the 8iron 190+ with all the repeatablity of an amazing High soft Draw at my current age and that's with the clubs 2 degrees weak.

I look forward to interacting with EVERYONE!

-Kevin.

Thanks! I took some time off from age 22-26, Played maybee 2-3 times a year during those times. Recently have been majorly bit again so everything is coming full circle for me.

My bag sat around so long in the Humidity my 2003 Winn Leathers completely deteriorated in my hands a few months ago when I picked them up! -_-

During that time they also stopped producing both golf balls I used to use, Haha. Oh well, half the fun is finding one you like.

Froth, I think you would have needed new grips anyway. :-)

As far as golf balls go...you obviously have a lot of choices!

Very true on the grips!

Is the Prov1 still the best option today?, my old ball of choice was Tour Balata 100's.

Picked up a 3 of NXT Tour S to see how they feel.

For your swing speed probably the ProV1x, or similar. Less spin off the driver, more spin around the green.

I'll pick up 3 of em at the clubhouse next weekend, I went to the local Parks and Rec and smacked the NXT-S's around and was pretty happy with the feel of the ball, putting them around the house leaves a little to be desired...Figured something with "soft" in the name would be softer. I may need a new putter after all these years...

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
