How long does a buyer on ebay have?

I sold a putter on ebay 2 weeks ago and still have not received payment. I received one email from the buyer stating he was having paypal issues. Smells like bullxxxx to me. I am going to relist the item but do I have to give the buyer more time? Pretty annoying. I couldn't find anything on the ebay seller preferences about how long a buyer has to pay for an item. I can't stand deadbeat buyers.

Anyone ?

Geez, two weeks is longer than I'd wait.

I'd call his bluff and tell him to send a Money Order or Cashier's Check next day mail. If he balks tell him you're relisting it an leaving negative feedback.

As another alternative you could email the winning bidder and establish a deadline for payment or you would send a "Second Chance Offer" to the next highest bidder.

I always list in my auctions the time frame in which payment has to be made. I would send them a final email stating if payment hasn't been received in X days, you are going to cancel the sale and re-list it. I am not much on leaving bad feedback, so I would probably not do that since they can in turn leave you bad feedback. The whole feedback system is screwy anyway.

A little late for this but in my ad's I usually state payment to be made within 48hrs of sale or item to be relisted. :)

I always list in my auctions the time frame in which payment has to be made.

As edwelly and pitbull have stated in the future set a time frame for payment in your auction then proceed from there.

first of all, you need to report it to ebay. so that you would get the after sale fee refunded.

Then relist.

Ugh i just did this and it says I have to wait an additional 7 days now. This is so lame, I hate ebay.

After 7 days you can send a reminder. Then if no payment in 7 more, you can get whats called a "Full value fee" refund. This refunds the fee from the sale, and leaves him an unpaid item strike. If he doesnt pay by then, I would also leave negative feedback in a very matter of fact way. somthing that says he didnt pay for the item without any personal opinions as to why. The problem is, many of the non payors then will retaliate if you leave them negative. I always feel that it is worth it though to protect everyone else.

I thought eBay changed it to where if someone doesn't pay for an item and you request a final value fee and they do not respond, they don't have the ability to leave feedback. Can someone verify this?
