Hey guys my name is Bryce, Im from Minnesota. Ive been playing casually since I was 10 years old with my grandpa who was an avid golfer and my brother in law. I would say I was roughly a +15-20H in the recent year or two. I had a set of callaway big bertha irons which I just sold today. I went to my local golf galaxy to hit some new irons and the guy working brought a cavity back mizuno and the titleist 712 MB and 712 CB. I was crushing the 712 MB 6-iron 190-195 yards and straight on their turf with a machine calculating my swing. Now my question is, Is their machine accurate? Is the perfect turf shots I was getting going to be hard to duplicate on real grass? Also, am I just getting in over my head swinging the MBs really well or is this something I should consider? I hit the CB and full cavitys really well too. I just don't want to get something I like there but get on the course and have it bite me in the a**... Always ask for demo to hit on REAL GRASS. Monitors mean nothing(IMHO.....others think monitors hung the moon).

Those monitors have settings such as wind speed and direction, fairway hardness etc. Its not uncommon for them to juice up the machines to sell more clubs.

I went too gxxf gaiiii. got evaluated, left went across town to D1"$s got another evaluation, then for sh!ts and giggles had a third evaluation when I went too go#fsm!"+ the following week. All three assessments had different swing speeds, launch angles etc.

I would not trust the numbers you are getting in a store. Not that launch monitors are bad but they can be deceiving if they are not being used correctly and by the right people. Also, your contact with a blade like that may be different on grass. Definitely worth your time and effort to get outside and hit some shots.

Monitors are better to do direct comparisons between sets. Just to see what you are hitting better imo. What big berthas did you have? The 08s? My buddy has a set with the I-brides and they are really nice clubs to hit.

Actually they are all making good points! Finding an outdoor demo is the best, hitting into a wind or with the wind gives you a better sense of what you are getting into. If you are comparing clubs, then the simulator should be able to predict ball flight, speed and launch angle. From there there you have an apples to apples comparison.

I have demoed a lot of clubs with friends that were in there to buy. I know how far I hit my irons and when the simulator has be 20 yds beyond that distance, you know something it a foot! That is not to say new clubs may be what is needed, better shaft material and centers of gravity on those clubs make them stupid easy to get a ball airborne and the longer the ball is in the air, the further it is going to fly.

Just take your time looking, look for places that will take out a set and demo them or see if anyone in area rents out the sticks so you can put them through there proper paces.
