Am wondering what song gets you guys focused and pumped for a big round, i.e. a tournament or qualifier? For me personally it is definitely Eminem - Lose Yourself.

"I F*%^&NG HATE YOU" by Godsmack. I actually try and stay away from the heavier stuff before I play, especially if I'm running late. Nothing's worse than rushing to get the first tee with a song like that in your head. Not very good for the rhythm. ;)

 

Before I play an important round, I'll listen to something with a definite beat to it, but nothing too fast or heavy. The Eagles are always a good choice.

Not really to get pumped (hell, I get to play golf, isn't that enough?), but just a few to pass the time on the way to the course to help burn off the nervous energy, and keep my mind distracted from thinking too much about the round ahead.

Recently it has been "He Got Game" by Public Enemy. ACDC's "Thunderstruck" is also a good one to get super pumped before a round. I can't go wrong listening to "Dusted" by Belly either.

I listen to Vivaldi and Wagner on my iPod when I warm up at the range. It calms me and gets me into focus. I would rather be relaxed than pumped. Pumping up for me creates tension. Tension is my worst enemy.

I'm usually trying to settle down before a round. I've played my best rounds napping or lying down for a while in silence before I get out there.

I seem to have a different song every year and have a couple I go between these days: "Down and Out" by the Randy Rogers Band and "I've gonna live forever" by Billy Joe Shaver.

 

I've found it pretty helpful to have a somewhat mellow song in my head when I play golf, something I know the words too. If I start singing that song after a bad shot or hole it helps calm me down. I really like Texas singer/songwriters, so that is typically the music I choose.

 

Of course, there are days like today when I was listening to rap on the way to the course and shot about 15 strokes higher than normal (bad, bad day).
