Orlando conditions

I'll be down there next week for vacation. Spending some time at Port St Lucie and am already booked to play the Dye course. After my time there I'll be in Orlando a few days and am looking to play on Thursday the 21st and have a few questions

 

1) How are conditions down there? Specifically, if anyone knows, the New Course at Grand Cypress and Bella Collina? Those are my top 2 choices right now but there's only 1 time for the New Course on Golfnow, and they show an overseeding alert for Bella Collina so I may not end up at either.

 

2) Any other courses in good shape that I could get a decent deal on? I've played both OCN courses years ago but heard that they were in pretty poor shape a little earlier this year. Any improvement on them this fall?

I'd rely on the GN reviews. If anything they're a little upwardly biased IYAM since you can't shred the courses too much.

Played Grand Cyrpress S/E about a month ago, fine as usual, new was closed for overseeding IIRC.

Only heard good things about Bella.

Conditions are really good for the most part. I played Bella Collina about a month ago and it was in terrific shape. Haven't played Grand Cypress since the summer, but had a friend on there about a week ago and he said the conditioning was perfect. My dad played OCN about 3-weeks ago and said it was in phenomenal shape.

You may like Metrowest. They recently shut down for 5 months so they could install TifEagle in the greens and completely re-did their bunkers. Makes for a much funner course. The fairways were so-so (had a lot of rain the day before), but it was an enjoyable experience and cost me $38.

If you're willing to play Bella Collina, I would recommend trying to get on the El Campeon course at Mission Inn.

Played OCN a few weeks ago and the conditions were great. A giant improvement then over the summer.

I have played a ton at Grand Cypress with the last time being September and the conditions have never been anything but outstanding. I am sure its much of the same now.

Haven't played Bella in a year, but I'm sure its in great condition.

Most courses have overseeded in the last month so conditions are great here. Celebration overseeded a couple weeks ago and just went off cart path only and the conditons were great.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I ended up at Bella Collina (couldn't pass up a $49 deal on Golfnow) and am very glad I did. It's hard to say after just playing it once but I think it may rank in my top 3 courses I've ever played. The overseed was noticeable in some places that they hadn't trimmed yet but overall it was in good shape. Speaking to the pro shop attendant after the round, he said he expects the course to be going private within the next year so I'm definitely happy I got to see it as I more than likely won't be back in the area in that time frame.

I know that's what they've told their members. Guy I work with was braggin about knowing a member & being able to get on... didn't have the heart to tell em they're on golfnow bro.

I know this question has been asked a million times but I'm to lazy to search for it haha. Headed down to ORL from like the 7th-14th of January I've always wanted to play a Disney course, which one is the best and worth dropping some serious dough to play?

To AZLefty,

All 3 courses will be open when you get into town. Currently, Palm is undergoing a Palmer renovation and will reopen Dec 14th. Magnolia and Lake Buena Vista are your other 2 choices and most people like Mag over LBV quite a bit. My favorite of the 3 is Palm and I am interested in seeing the changes. I'll let you know on here if I get to play it before you come down.

Magnolia overseeded about a week and a half ago and has just returned from cart path only so should be ready to play. I played LBV on Saturday and was in excellent condition. I think Magnolia is a bit more interesting hole wise so if you're deadset on Disney golf try to get on that one. IMO, you're better off trying to get on a course with a good rate using golfnow. Most attractions area courses are solid and there are a ton of threads about it if you want to try and find the right one.
