My Home Made Swing, Advise Welcome

Little about me first I guess. I'm 29, over the past couple seasons I've got myself down between an 8-10 handicap from a 22 handicap 3 seasons ago. I've never had any lessons or formal training, just tips I've got from guys on the course or range. So let me have it, how's my home made swing look to all you guys and gals out there?

 

PS: Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated as well. One can never get to much help :)

Hey Pigems,

Not too shabby for a homemade swing! The only thing that I can see from the angle that you shot those videos at is that you should widen your stance. It will give you more stability and helps with power a little bit.

TVM, I will keep this in mind in the future practice. I appreciate the advice and ill take as much as anyone is willing to give. My goal, like many, is to make it to Scratch eventually

I have widened the stance out a bit and I have to say, feels much better/ more comfortable though my swing and I'm even getting better contacts and distance. Between this your advise and Monte, who mentioned it didnt look like I was shifting my weight forward enough in another thread(which I wasn't and have since been working on correcting), have made a huge differnce for me. I just wanted to say thanks very much to you guys for the help

Hi Pigems,

Just saw that you replied to this again. I checked out the new swing and it definitely looks better than when you started. I took a look at the new driver video and the 8 iron video and it looks like you're coming across your body with an "out-to-inside" swing.

What does your ball flight usually look like for you?

TYVM sir, I've been working hard at it, my ball flight is normally anywhere from a mild fade to a hard slice depending on how far outside in I get. But dead straight pulls to the right are becoming more common lately now.

On the attempts above are you placing each successive ball on the precise same spot on the mat?

I'd say it was relatively close to the same spot, but probably not the exact same spot.

If a free throw shooter stood at various points on the foul line it would more than likely change everything because a fixed coordinate has been altered resulting in directional changes relative to angular effort.

If the ball(s) are in same fixed spot upon the mat, and since the target isn't hopefully moving, evaluation and personal feedback are enhanced. At the moment your process is engendering a ball bound procedure whereby you are currently setting up to a ball instead of setting up to what you are trying to accomplish- the shot. We set up to the shot, not the ball.

This is a game of precision first.
