If I remember correctly the Black is usually closed the day after a Monday holiday. I called the reservation system to check but they have not changed the announcement yet. If you really want to play the Black I would call up to make sure they are open on Tuesday the 2nd. The reservation system number is (516)249-0707 listen to the announcement or you can try calling general info at (516)249-0700. Good luck.

So did you play? I got there at 9:30 and git a tee time at 11:57.

Hot as f'ing hell out there!
[/quote] That's not to bad of a wait for showing up at that time. I am looking into next week sometime. How is the course right now?

Course seemed in good shape. But I don't have any past experience there to compare it to.

Hey @rsj1360, yeah, I managed to get a tee time at 10:09. I registered for the system last week and called 2 days in advance as an "out of state-r".

I caught the red-eye from San Diego and was exhausted, but managed to have a good round. 74 from the blues and birdie-ing 1 and 3 certainly helped put me in the zone. You can see it here with my game-golf app: http://www.gamegolf.com/player/bradbernstein/round/95489

How'd you play?

love the app, it take a little getting used to, but honestly if anything it helps me focus on my pre-shot routine even more! I love stats and have been analyzing my game thru basic stats (GIRs, fairways, putts/round, up/down, etc) but this takes it to a new level on analyzing iron play, especially true distances (which is key for me as recently bought new irons and had them fitted so my distances are different now). In addition to the stats, it helps me share the round with my instructor, so we can analyze my game together.

Beyond all of that its a great way to share and revisit my golfing experiences.

Overall easily worth the $200 for anyone who is serious about their stats.

Good round. I played today and shot 81 from the blue tees. Problem is, you and I are both going to be screwed over on handicaps because the course was playing about 400 yards shorter than the score card. So my handicap differential was 2.2, which is exactly my Index. But the course was playing so much shorter, some holes were 60 yards shorter than the card, that the 78.1/152 course and slope are nowhere close to accurate, well the slope might be.

Today, I got there at about 1115 and was off by around 1145. I was going to play the Blue because I didn't want to get my head beat in, but it was a posted 45 minute wait for the Blue and 1 hour for the Black, so I picked the Black and ended up going off earlier than originally told. I think I am going to make this a monthly thing, going out to Bethpage.

I didn't play particularly well, for me. I am not a low-handicapper - about a 15, but I hit a lot more bad shots than usual. To that I blame the heat. Typically I play my worst golf in July and August and my best golf in September and October. I just couldn't concentrate and feel comfortable with the conditions as they were. But I will plan on giving it another go sometime when I can be assured the weather won't be 100+ and 90%+ humidity - lol.
