Callaway LR1200 vs. Bushnell 1500 TE: My On-Course Reviews

Okay, I know this discussion has been had before since I searched this topic to death over the past week. I got the Pinseeker 1500 w/ Slope for Xmas and returned it because at my club you cannot use slope (and feedback from members here who've had the same problem).

So I exchanged it for the Callaway LR1200 and used it for 1 entire round and at the practice range spotting targets and practicing hitting to that distance.

After a little debate, and Callaway's $500 price tag, I exchanged it for the Pinseeker 1500 TE (no slope) and again, used it for 1 round and practice session, at the same course.. spotting the same targets.

My Verdict:

-The 1500 TE HANDSDOWN.

Why?

-The 1500 is MUCH easier to shoot, when I say much, I mean "MUCH" easier. Even if your had is not the steadiest, it will not pickup trees etc in the background as easy as the the Callway even in FTP mode. What this means is, you pull it out, shoot and you have your distance on the FIRST TRY. The Callaway I was shooting each target 2-5 times depending on the distance and background.

-The size of the 1500 is negligable for me, I do like the neoprene case that comes with the LR and I like the looks of the LR better as well, but that went out the window the second I started using the Bushnell.

-The Callaways DOES process the distances faster than the Bushnell, hands down.. but you will be shooting the target more than 2 times to get the distance the Bushnell will get on the first try.

I'm not on either sides bandwagon, and I really dont care about brands or loyalty as I am not a hunter or pro photographer like some on here, I am just telling you flat out what works.

Thanks for the review! I've been doing some research on both models and this helps a lot.

I've said it a thousand times, there is absolutely no reason to look any further for a rangefinder than the 1500, I have tried them all and would not consider buying anything else, yes it really is that good for those wondering.

ordered the 1500TE for myself for Xmas and had my wife give it to me and it's AWESOME....I wouldn't even consider any others

Pure745's review mirrors my experience. The Bushnell Pinseeker 1500TE is the best I have used as well. I like the Callaway Nikon LR1200 just fine but, for me anyway, it does not perform on the course as well as the Pinseeker 1500TE. I prefer the horizontal orientation (like binoculars) and the Bushnell's "Pinseeker" mode works better for me than the Nikon's "First Target Priority" Mode. The size and weight difference (minimal) is a non-issue for me.
