Carrying your Pinseeker 1500 (or other rangefinder)

Recommended Posts

I just got a new Pinseeker 1500 for Christmas and it has been amazing. I honestly think that having the exact yardage to the pin every time will indeed make me a better golfer. However, I have only been using it while in a cart, but I was wondering where people put it when they are walking. It seems like it would be really cumbersome to have strapped to your body, but it would be a pain to have dig through your bag on every shot. Has anyone figured out a way to inconspicuously strap it to the outside of your bag?

Goes into the glovebox of my ClicGear push cart. Ready when I need it. A friend of mine had a carry bag and sold his rangefinder. It seemed like he didn't use it because of rummaging through his bag to access it.

The new Ogio bags for '08, at least one of them has a dedicated pocket for GPS. Not sure if a rangefinder would fit in it.
The Nexos is OGIO’s first stand bag to offer the new Arc Lite Stand System. Designed with sleek, racing-inspired lines and an exoskeleton structure, the Nexos represents the “best of the best” in OGIO bag design including a 10” Wedge top; the acclaimed Zipperless Ball Pocket (ZBP); a GPS Range Finder pocket with an easy view window; a walking-accessible water bottle holster; and even a cigar pocket with matching embossed cigar caddy.
Other features worked into the Nexos include:

- 11 pockets (8 zippered) - External Ball Silo (golf ball delivery system)
- Full-length club dividers - Hoode rain hood
- Crossbow Shoulder Strap System - Glove/putter cover Velcro strip
- Scorecard and pencil pocket - Divot tool sleeve with OGIO divot tool

Currently, the Nexos (MSRP: $240.00) is available in a traditional Sand/Navy or all-Black design, as well as a sportier Black/Gold combination. For more information about OGIO’s 2008 golf and tournament gear, call 800.922.1944 or visit www.ogio.com.
There is a pack that straps to your bag, but I've never used it. I just put it in the ball pocket and keep the balls somewhere else. I find this is pretty convenient because I can reach it without setting the bag down. Just be really sure there isn't anything in your bag that will scratch the lens, or keep it in the case within your bag.

My bag (Taylor Made - not sure of the model -- It's a couple of years old) has two side pockets on the outside -- one thin one, and one bigger one for rain gear, etc. I just put my rangefinder in the thin pocket in the carrying case. That way, it doesn't flop around on the outside of the bag, and the pocket is thin enough that the case fits comfortably inside, but doesn't slide to the bottom. I can easily access it while carrying the bag, and it takes no time to find.
When I first got it, I worried about fumbling around for it, and slowing down play, but you get used to using it pretty quickly, and it's not a problem at all.

I use a Nikon 500G. The case for my Nikon has a belt loop, but I was not about to put it on my belt each time I played golf. Like you I wanted quick access to my range finder each time I played gold ( I walk and carry my bag), so I purchased a couple of Colman 6ft utility straps with a quick release buckle that you would use for camping. I only needed one. I wrapped the strap around the top of my bag so it goes through a couple of holes to keep it from sliding down. I then tied the strap off so it does not come loose, and then cut the excess off. Now Each time I go out I just unclip the strap slide the range finder on, and then and then reclip the buckle, and I am good to go. I got a helpfull tip from another Nikon 500G user to just fold the flap down so I do not have to unsnap and re-snap each time I use it. It just slides in and out just like a snug pocket. Hope this helps.

I put a small key ring on the bag and attached a D-ring to it.

I then hook the pinseeker bag to my cart and leave it mostly unzipped so I can easily take it out or put it in the bag. I keep the zippers barely zipped and it doesn't fall out. I clip it to Mizuno Scratchsack at the practice range and do the same thing.

These things can take a beating. I've dropped mine 2-3 times. It has slid off the seat of the golf cart at least a dozen times and fallen down in the back into the area where the bags are strapped in. It has slid off the seat several times onto the floor of the cart. I've thrown my golf bag on it several times in the trunk of the car. All this and keeps on working like a champ.
You can get the new fanny pack that bushnell now offers, similar to the ones on tour. It has a magnetic clasp for easy open when at the course as well as a zipper for when your heading to the 19th. I love them, you can find them from your local retailer for 20ish...

I guess the new units being sold, automatically come with the Fanny/bag pack with strap. Because I just strap it to my bag, and access it via the magnetic flap. Very easy to access it.
Do you all really like your rangefinder. I am thinking about getting one. How easy is it to shoot to like the back of a green or something if you ever do that
I love it, and it is easy to use.

I frequently use it to check out various distances...edge of trap, far side of fairway, etc.

Here is the new carrying case that everybody is talking about. It comes with all the newly made Pinseekers. Just got mine and the case seems to be pretty convenient. Just wondering how I'm going to use it on my Speedcart V1...

And as a side note, I think the hand strap that mine came with is messed up. When you put it on the unit, it double loops around your wrist and is uncomfortable/odd. Are they supposed be like that or am I missing something??? ;)
