Wow someone please help me

I went through the same thing my sophomore year. I was told that i hit a growth spurt and that it actually severly messed up my golf swing. I went from shooting low 40's to mid 50's over night, it was BAD.

I suggest you get helped out by a pro ASAP. Its frustrating, i know.

Actually, on the nice side, my slump helped out my short game, capitalize on that while your at it.

start over with the basics and rebuild? having a pro check you out would definitely be beneficial but unless something like you broke your wrist etc happened, it is probably somewhat mental? i'm going through a period right now where I can't make good contact with my irons/hybrids at all but my swing is fine. My practice swings are perfect. It's all mental. I'm getting there though. Pured a pw to 3 feet from about 120 out and made the birdie putt today. Things are coming along I just had to change the way I was thinking when I swing. good luck.

I've recently had the same thing. I went from high thirties, low forties to low fifties all of a sudden. not really sure what it was but i got help from my instructor and the last few times i've been out i've been posting low 40s. You'll be okay and get through it soon enough

The time off will most likely help. I usually pick up a club a few times a day just to work on my grip a bit.

definitely get a lesson, it can be amazing what things can change and screw up your swing/game because you can't see them, a pro should be able to straighten you out right quick :clapping:

Lessons can also mess you up big time. Unless it's a coach you've used before, I wouldn't count on a single lesson being of any benefit.

Thanks guys. I am hoping that the time off will prove beneficial. ANd i have already been working on drills to help my putting and chipping. Hopefully i can get out of this slump soon and get ready for the summer tournaments.

When the iron go South try the knock down. It shortens the swing to provide more accuracy. This is not a band-aid but rather an easier shot when things get tough. You need the knok down shot in your arsenal anyway.

Also, I tend to overswing as the season progresses. You too?

I think its more of I overswing as i get more confident. Sometimes taking it a little too far. I guess that can have an effect on my swing progressively getting to SUCK.

play an easier course a few times and get the confidence back, very rarely discussed is the

difficulty of one course vs another. There are extreme differences such as a course w/ blind shot, tight holes vs an open course, no forced carries, larger greens etc. ie: Bethpage Black is alot more difficult then the Bethpage Yellow course.

I'm going through the exact same thing, so i know how you feel. But i've just been hitting knock down shots all day, even a low knock down driver to put the ball in the fairway.. I think i'm seeing my pro soon through.

I'm obviously no expert, but shoot high 30's low 40's. I played a couple days ago and had this horrible slice...didn't know why. I made solid contact, but every shot started right and then sliced even further. After the round, taking a couple swings in front of a mirror, I realized my shoulders were wide open at address. This caused me to bring the club on the outside on the backswing and again on the outside on the downswing - resulting in cutting across the ball and slicing it.

Basically, what I am trying to say is check the basics. I am glad my problem was a very easy to fix, and hopefully yours is too.

Good news guys...as of today my slump is officially gone. Yesterday I shot 79 and today I could only get 9 in but i shot 40. Its alot better than what I was at. Im excited to get back at it this week!
