What Ball you Play and why

I have long time wondered what really is the best ball. All companies of course claim that they have the best. Some pros get paid to use the ball, and others don't I guess. I have switched from the prov1x to the nike plat and the callaway ix. Not for any particular reason other that the fact I like to try different equipment. I can't really tell a big difference other than the platinum spins a lot around the green which I like, but the others perform well around the greens too. I want to stick with one ball, let me know why you play the ball you do and why.....? Best Distance? Driver spin? Iron Play? Wedge Shots?

prov1 x practice balls all day every day, because my cousin is a titleist staffer and gets boat loads of them for free and he passes them along to me. i honestly have never been able to tell the difference between prov's cally hx tours (regular ix or 56) or any of the nike ones as far as driver distance or accuracy. but the prov's dont spin as much with my wedges wich i like cause i tend to spin it too much with the nikes. and they dont tear up as bad as the callaways. and best feel off the putter ever

Interesting right now I have two balls I trust and am playing a tournament this weekend and have not decided which to play.

I find them very similar I may be longer with the latter but not sure

prov1x and taylor made red I switched to the x from the prov1 for less spin

I liked the ball because I hit it as far as anything and its very consistent distance wise with my irons.

Now honestly there is probably a ball out there I hit farther my swing speed is only about 95mph but everything else I have tried I loose that distance control with my irons and start airmailing greens

Now I find the TP red to have all the characteristics of the X and I may be five or six yds long with it I am honestly not sure its just a feeling.

I play Bridgestone e6 and Srixon SoftFeel right now. Both were recommended after a Trackman Ball-fitting at my local shop. That fitting was over a year ago and I have never looked back and have been super happy with both. I need the lower spin ball off the tee to help keep it straight. Neither have a lot of spin around the green, but I am used to that I play it accordingly.

last year's TP Red....I have 8 dozen left....not sure what I am going to do after that....anyone have some advice?

My club is having that Bridgestone ball fitting on the monitor this weekend....where you hit your current ball and theirs...will be interested to hear what they have to say...especially since I read on Golfwrx that they are coming out with new models later this year.

Would love to hear if anyone was playing last years TP Red and what they are playing now, as this years TP red is not the same (yes I know there are threads on this...but would like to know what you switched to).

Naturally, I'd say try the new TM LDP.

Have you tried the Tour i or Tour iX?

One Platinum 2008...and it isn't even close

For anyone who swings the driver over 110mph this is the best ball you can play. It will go as far as the Pro V1x and spins as well as the Pro V1. The best of both worlds.

Right now I play Nike One Platinums. I bought them because they were on sale at Target for $40 a dozen and because I wanted to give them a shot. They are nice balls, but you dont get the same distance of the tee and spin on the greens as you get with a Pro V1.

I will likely start using Titleist DT Carrys when I use up all the Nikes. I live the spin of a premium ball, but I have a hard time spending $50 for a dozen golfballs. Refurbished Pro V1s are another possible option, but they still cost $10 a dozen more than DTs and their performance seems to be hit or miss from one ball to the next.

I usually play NXT Tours or Precept U-Tri Tours because the spin they provide around the green is just right for me and they have a great "feel". I also play the Laddie X when my swing isn't the greatest. Can't beat them at 2 doz for $20. They don't spin as much around the greens but feel great and putt well. Like a lot of guys, I just can't justify $40 per dozen.

Bridgestone B330, it doesn't spin as much as the B330-S which is a good thing for me. Also, it's the longest (for me) premium ball on the market off of the driver.

I've tried pro V's , Bridgestone B330 and S, Taylormade TP's and regardless of price I sitll go back to the Bridgestone e6. For me the feel overall around the course fits my liking. Most of all the reduced hook/slice gimmick is for real!

No, I havent. Ive heard great things about the NXT and I might give it a shot. Where I buy my golfballs at they get $21 a dozen for DTs and $25 a dozen for NXTs.

I actually bought more golfballs today because I had a 25% off coupon. Unfortunately, Pro V1s and NXTs werent in on the 25% off deal. I ended up buying a box of a dozen DT Carrys. It will be interesting to see how they work out.

Pro V1 is my favourite ball, but also play with the Taylormade Black TP when its windy and have a dozen Callaway tour i's in the bag as well at the moment.

I seem to play my best golf with the Pro V1 though.
