where you play, funny stories, anything.
hey guys, im a highschool golfer, so i guess you can put what state you play in, or any funny stories that you have from tryouts or matches, but i have one from tryouts, it was where we had a kid in our group had absoloutely nio etiquette or respect, and after about the 15th hold my best friend whop i was playing with got in his face because he was getting really anoying and a fight almost broke out, but what my friend was saying was really funny, i was on the ground laughing. i know its no tgood to have a fight on the golf course but it was funny as ****.

I play in michigan by the way

Not a "funny" story, but an interesting story from tryouts nonetheless.

There are two high schools in my district, creatively "North" and "South". We both have tryouts at the same course in Detroit. On the Thursday of tryouts (we have a 5 day tryout), I was playing in the last group of North, and the first group from South got mugged by a couple of guys who hopped the fence and apparently had guns, taking their clubs / cell phones / car keys / wallets, etc.

    A slightly funnier story:

During my freshman year we were practicing at our home course, and one of my teammates just made a big number on a par 5. His frustration at the hole started when he threw his driver at his bag off the tee, then he tomahawked his three wood in the fairway, and got angry at the golf ball at the end of the hole, throwing it onto a major street that runs next to the hole. (Thankfully no one was hurt)

that kinda reminds me of the time in my sophomore year tryout, we were on a par 3, and some jack-a** behind us hit onto the green while we were on the green, again thank god no one was hurt, so this kid paul picked up his ball and chucked it into a road by the hole, and it hit the side of a car, that was really funny too, and then when a duck hit a powerline and broke its neck (thats alittle sad) all in the same round, crazy stuff.

Not that funny of a story either kinda dumb...

my first year trying out in grade 9 we had 2 tryouts...24 guys tried out the first time and the low 12 made it to the next tryout

So I sign up and everything, then get to the course we're playing...par 60 4800yards.....I was like ummm ok....84 was the 12th place score to make the next cut....thats +24 on a par 60 4800yrd. course.

The next tryout at was at a normal par 72, 6800 yard course where, obviously the lower half did not fare too well.

The first 4 holes on that par 60 course...250 dogleg left par 4, 210 straight away par 4, 130 yard par 3, 320 yard par 4....

Just a joke of a tryout, and didn't give me a good impression of our golf team.

But if you're a mere mortal and want to shoot 59, that would be the place to go to do it....

oh ya if you want to shoot a score like -5 to +5 thats the place to go...even if your a 10+ handicap you shouldnt be off par too much at a place like this.

Ahhh no tryouts for me lol image/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Its so great to be an auto varsity player lol. Anyway, while playing a match against some redhead from a design school here in miami he tells me "If I do that happy gilmore swing will youe penalize me strokes" I start laughing my a** off and said "Dude, please do you honestly think Im gonna allow mis strokes to a nub like yourself?". Well that sad part is that he tried it on the 6th hole and bombed the **** out of the ball for easily 260+.... AND HES NEVER PLAYED GOLF BEFORE! I took it over the trees and missed the green by 20 feet though =D

My freshman year, at our confrence meet, which is the last meet of the year. Two kids got in trouble for smoking on the course, another for signing an for an incorrect score, and then someone thought a person had an illegal driver so we had to call someone up to find out if it was a legal driver. The meet was a mess and then the coach that hosted the meet gave all of the teams a lecture about how many problems there were.

Another happened last year, we were playing at this course where one of the holes goes straight for about 200 yards and then takes a sharp left turn and its possible to cut the corner but you have to carry some tall trees and a river. Two guys hit (They were pretty much #1 and 2 in the confrence so it was easy for them), make it easily, then our #1 guy goes up and hits his shot into the woods. But then at the end, we're all standing around and the scores get tallied and we lost by one shot. And our coach was wondering what happened and he looked at all of our score cards and the one guy had a huge number on one hole and pretty much pars on every other hole. The entire day at school our coach had been telling us not to cut the corner on that hole, so our guy got chewed out a little bit for that one.

Not a story from a meet, as this is my first yr on the golf team, but from a IAJGA tourny.

A friend of mine who is a pretty good golfer, but has the potential to shoot some high scores, well that happened on a hole. He got a 14. A 14. On a 480 yd straightway par 5. He is a much better golfer than that but sometimes his temper gets the best of him.

Anyway, when we were in the clubhouse after the round, a parent from one of the girls that came with us to play in the tourny who is absolutely hilarious, he looks at his scorecard and asks him how he got a 14. My friend answers,"I missed a 3 footer for a 12, and a 6 footer for a 13."

It was hilarious at the time.

    im from az..........

my best story is from a match agianst havasu...i was playing 1 my best friend 2 and the "cheater" playing five. we play nine hole matches so i went out first finished with 34 brenden my best friend went out second shot 36. by the time we got to the last group the score was 34-36-39-42 and havasu (who is very very good) had 34-35-37-37 so we were down eight (about like usual are four and five stuggle) coming to the last green was are team cheater, im sure every ones had one on the team once or twice. this kid couldnt break 45 in tryouts cause i kept his score. hes comes in with a 36 and we win by a shot.......

so brenden (number 2 and my bf) says in a very loud speaking voice "your suck a cheater coach disqualify him so we dont cheat these guys out of a win" in front of every one!

it was the funniest thing i have ever seen expecualy because it was well deseverd and that no one realy likes this kid since hes a poser and cheater

hope you enjoyed my story and maybe a little laugh

I live in South Jersey, but lived in south cali for most of my life. I was messin around on a little executive course down in palm springs with my friend. Being an executive course, it's not too hard to shoot 4 or 5 strokes under par. On the very last hole (a 183yd par 3) i was $12 up on my friend amd he has no chance of winning. So my friend says that if he gets it to within 2 feet of one of the holes on the practice green behind the green on the last hole, we tie and I have to buy lunch. Knowing he can't come even close (its now 203 to the hole) i agree. So he absolutely kills a 3 iron and takes one bounce on the cartpath behind the hole and it drops into the cup! I was stunned. Absolutely the most amazing shot I have ever seen. How he did it I don't know, but it's been 2 years and he still takes shot at me about it.

We play at Hamlet in Hamlet Indiana (smallest town ever)

A quick story about one of the guys on J.V. During our first practice at the driving range he forgot his clubs so, our coach let him borrow some of his. He broke the head off his 3-wood.

Then about a month later we're at Hamlet and the same player sliced a ball off the 10th tee and it actually made an almost complete U turn over a practice green and hit our coache's van. Leaving a perfect golf ball sized dent in his hood. It was the greatest moment of my golfing life!

we were putting on a par 5 and all of the sudden my friend who was playing behind us had his second shot hit the green. I walked over and picked up his brand new Bridgestone B330 and put down a scuffed up Top Flite xl 3000. I made an eagle by the way.

I am a freshman and this past season was my first for school. It felt great becasue by the end of the year I became #1. Anyway, in one match, I was playing bad. I kept on messing up. On one of the 1st 5 holes, I hit a bad drive, and my opponent claimed I hit his ball. I did not and I repeatedly told him that. So he goes, I know ya hit mine you f******* cheater. So i am pissed and go on a bordie/par rampage. After the bad start I was the medalist image/beach.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':idhitit:' />
