Tour Edge XCG vs. XCG-3 Fairway Wood

I have only hit the XCG3 in the shop. It seems to feel better off the tee, but I don't know if I will like it better off the grass. I do think it is way better than the XCG-V, but I also feel that the XCG was better and that the V took a step back - IMO. I may try a XCG3 3 wood and then use a XCG 5 wood.
For me the new prize is the XCG3 Hybrids. They went to a steel face replacing titanium on the previous models and for me it gives much better control.

I did not like the XCG-V either. It was too big with a tall face for my taste, so the XCG stayed in the bag.

The new model seems more similar to the original XCG, but with some nice improvements.

Would love to hear some folks who have hit the XCG-3 off the grass, as that is where I will use this club the most.

A very good seller on ebay had the XCG-3 for 179.00 i'm thinking. You can find it cheaper than 299 if you decide to buy one.

I currently bag a xcg 4 wood/dvs stiff and I hit the xcg 3 3 days ago at the tour edge demo. The xcg 3 is very easy to hit, launches high, nice feel and only slightly larger looking than the original xcg. I hit the 3 wood and 4 wood and liked them both. I also hit the cb3 tour and while not as high a ball flight, that thing is pure sweetness. If the original xcg is $100 cheaper then I would probably just buy it. If similarly priced then I'd buy the new xcg 3.

I play the original CB1 4wood that I fell in love with and have not really looked around since but I might be willing to give something else a shot. For those of you that hit the CB1, what do you think the advantages would be to the xcg or xcg-3 would be over the original CB1? Any help is appreciated.

Both xcg's are higher launching than the cb1 so if thats what your looking for i'd make the switch.

I've owned/played all of TEE fairways except the original CB1. For me, the XCG-3 are totally worth the upgrade over the XCG-V or XCG. I don't think your going to talk a CB2 owner out of that club, because it's that good, but I like the added forgiveness of the XCG-3.
I am now bagging the XCG-3 15*FW, and 18* and 24* hybrids. All 3 are simply the best clubs I have ever hit, and unfortunately, I've hit alotta clubs! I'm a 10 handicap with a 96-100 mph driver swing that is on the flat/shallow side. First off, the looks of these clubs at address inspires total confidence- you know you're gonna nail it. They set up 10 times better than the XCG-V, which was a step down from the XCG in my opinion. They have a stock shaft (Motore) that fits me great, and are so easy to swing. Then when you connect, that TEE sound is just pure bliss. TEE got it soooo right with these clubs, mine will be in the bag for years (because they cost so much too!). So happy I got off the TaylorMade bandwagon and am now playing clubs with unparalleled craftsmanship and design.

ONE FINAL QUESTION: If any of you have a swing speed around 94, did you go with a STIFF or a REGULAR. I called the Tour Edge customer service department, and they said I'm right in the middle of a S & R. I'll check out which is best on a LM, but want to see what flex works for you guys as well.

Glad to hear that many of you think that the Tour Edge got the XCG-3 right.

Sounds as though ANY of the XCG lineup is better for swing speeds in the mid-90's, and for those who want a bit higher ball flight with morer forgiveness than the CB lineup.

Although the CB1 and CB2 have a faithful following, I tried the CB2 and with my 94=SS, I could NOT get the ball off the ground. Guess I do not have enough gusto in my swing to fully maximize these clubs. But the XCG versions fit in perfectly.

I'm going to demo the XCG-3 today, and hopefully I'll be blown away, and buy the 16.5 degree.
