Pardon me, if I sound rude but that doesn't answer the question. If the shaft size is .335 it might just mean the shaft was shimmed before being installed into a retail head.

By looking at the picture you provided, it does look like a normal retail head unless the hosel is .335

I have heard of tour heads shimmed with .335 shafts because it provided a more substantial feel or wasn't available in .350. I was just curious if there was a story...

You guys make me laugh. The tour equipment I show, I get from currant PGA tour players. Not a friend of a friend. I can verify every item as tour issue. I have more tour shaft in my stock room than most of you will see in your life time. If you want to call someone out you better check your facts and not play like you are in the know.

just as a whole if a vsteel does not have a paint break..I personally stay away.

I understand, me being new to the site, I don't want to get the rep of trying to pass off junk as tour. I see it all the time but the only time I make the tour issue claim is if I get it directly for a tour player.

This week I have had over 40 items come thru that I received directly from the player himself.

i have yet to see a tour VS without paintbreak, & ive never received a VS that doesn't have paintbreak from my TM tour reps? but in no way am i doubting you OB as i don't know who your in guy with TM is.

Let's just say he is a currant PGA touring pro. I have herd the theory on the paint break but it is like every other tour issue club, I can find 20 variations of every tour club. How many head sizes have you hear on the FT series, 400-460 on the FT-3 alone.

I went thru the same thing with some titleist prototypes, everyone told me they were fakes until titleist came out and verified that they were prototypes made for a spicific pro. Then everyone wanted them.

I had a tour v-steel that had the paintbreak but the hosel size was .350.I just figured it was bored out.The best was to know for sure what your getting is buy it from guys you trust.

I don't see any reason not to believe OB, I doubt he'd scam anyone, it's the people that don't know him that might think it's a fake only because of the non-paintbreak. Either way OB sounds like a stand-up guy!

Thanks for the props guys. I can and will verify any club I claim to be tour issue, they are not second hand dealings, I get them straight from the players.

I've had a couple, myself, with no paint break and were the real deal. They were handed to me by the TM tour player himself (big name). 100% tour all the way but, unfortunately, I'm not a VS fan. Needless to say, they do exist. OB....you're OK in my book. PM me with what ya got if it's meant for sale.

The tour vans are built for speed. They make almost all tour issue 335 so they don't have to worry about 50 different shafts in 2 sizes.

I agree with champ, if you have something with a 350 tip it should raise a red flag, not that it is not legit but it would be in the minority.

NON, of the Taylor Made stuff i have gotten from my rep has had a .350 tip. i think that possibly my tour rescues are .350 but i am unsure as i dont do the work the tour department guys handle that. as far as drivers & fairway woods that ive gotten from my TM tour rep all have been .335 tip

Regardless, i know who thier TOUR CONTACT is and he play's for the tour. I've gotton some stuff from them before and they are straight up guys. MY 2 pennies....... :lol:

Also if you look in a lot of the Japanese Golf Magazines (they show a lot of WITB pics of TOUR players equipment) they show the V-Steels and they DID NOT have paintbreaks. I was looking at the magazines the other day and almost ALL the staffers had V-Steels without paintbreaks. The "later" ones that came out all had paintbreaks after.

To make a long story short, there are TOUR VS that DO AND DON'T have paintbreaks, the ones without paintbreak are the older models I believe.

That might be correct, the one that I had was one of the earliest tour V-Steel.
