Discounting the big names, I'd guess at Bridgestone or Srixon. Both are pretty well represented. Srixon staffers seem to use their drivers, and Bridgestone drivers seem a fairly common sight in bags.

Wilson drivers are a rare sight, since the glory days of the 'Whales' and 'Firesticks' and I can't think of a Mizuno staffer who uses a Mizuno driver. I know Singh won the Masters with a 300s, but the last time I remember seeing Mizuno drivers en mass was in the days of the Hot Metal. Yonex seems to be the sole preserve of Monty these days (and Mickelson before him) and most of the MacGregor staffers are hitting other-brand drivers as the norm, unlike in the days of Persimmon when they were ten a penny.

Like you, I'd love to have a sneek peek at the Darrell lists. I reckon 'Titleist' would be a common word in most (all) categories...

Hi mate, hope you're o.k.

I agree, it's got me really intrigued though. In regards to Srixon staffers, I can't think of one that has a Srixon driver in play. Furyk uses a Superquad (I think) and Stenson uses an FT-3. Bridgestone - I know that Appleby has a j33P and i'm not sure about Freddie Couples but Will Mckenzie definately has a Taylor Made, either 425TP or 460TP. I think Padraig has a new Wilson driver in play and you're right, Macgregor staffers have gone elsewhere. Mind you, Badds apparantly gets about $20k per tournament for putting a TM driver in play so I guess money talks.

Anyone have any more info on this?

Robert Allenby plays a Srixon W-403 , and I am pretty sure Fred Couples switched to the Bridgestone driver.

Right on both counts.

I know Furyk is apparently hitting a Superquad now, but he had a liking for his Srixon driver (which I'm told he isn't contracted to play) when he had it.

Allenby (as far as I know) is still stuck with an older Srixon driver after a long time with an old TM. I know John Rollins was an R7 man, and I'm not sure what Alex Cejka is hitting now. Callaway last I knew. I'm not sure about Brian Davis either.

Perhaps I'm wrong about Srixon! DanSrixon???

Bridgestone-wise, most of their guys seem to be hitting J33s, apart from Mackenzie who is indeed a TM man. Couples has got a Bridgestone driver now to replace his old faithful Taylor Made too.

Harrington has been hitting a Titleist for a long time, but obviously likes his Wilson stick judging by the weekend's performance.

I've never seen Parnevik with a Wilson driver since his contract with Callaway expired (or fairway woods, or wedges come to think of it..)

Got me thinking too... There are certainly more quality products out there nowadays for pros to choose from. Years back, metalwoods meant Taylor Made and irons were either Wilson or Mizuno for forged and Ping for cast stuff... Wedges were Eye 2s or Clevelands.. 1 irons (!) were some sort of Ping and Persimmon woods were Wilson, Joe Powell or MacGregor. Balls? Titleist or Maxfli all-round.

I bet the Darrell people found it a lot easier to tally everything up...

Nobody mentions the Titleist of Japan - how come ?

Tourstage would be the number 1 driver on tour no doubt.

Is anyone on the PGA tour even using a Tourstage driver? I imagine they would badge it as Bridgestone if they were. Better name recognition (and product support) here in the states. It makes more sense as most events are played here.

I agree, there might be a few Japanese guys playing Tourstage in the Majors but I doubt it gets much play in the U.S at other times.

Still, anyone got any ideas what the answer actually is or is it still all speculation.

Ok here goes....

According to D.S. for the At&T that was just played

Adams with 2 drivers

Bridgestone with 2

TM had 41 percent

Tittly had 22 percent

of the drivers in use.......

There you go and that is legitimate...not a guess.

DG

Driver: TM M4 Tour Issue
3W: Rogue
Hybrid: TEE
Irons: Callaway Apex Pro
54, 58 TM MG tour issue raw

Thanks for the info mate, that's great.

Can't believe the next nearest to the big boys is 2! I thought it might be a bit more than that.

I'm surprised at that too.

I know Taylor Made and Titleist dominate (and Callaway do Ok too) but that's a phenomenal margin - almost Pro V1-esque...

With those counts I must run right out and get me a Bridgestone driver. OOOHHHHHHHHHHHH

Like JamesDuncan said, you won't regret it. Everything about them is better, even the sound. I'm not a big fan of the "pop gun" sounding drivers out there now. Give me something solid.

I agree. I never thought anything would feel as good as the 510TP. If the 510 is a 100 on feel and sound, the J33 is a 99. It is trulya terrific driver....long, forgiving, and feels great. I'm looking for a tour issue version. The retail is so good, the tour must be even better.

I work hard to get something different in my bag. I don't want the same club that some other guy bought at Golfsmith last weekend. Give the little guy a shot.
