Myrtle Beach Trip

Recommended Posts

Hey all WRX members hope everyone is having a good winter. If you're a New Englander like me the only golf that is happening is at the Virtual places for the time being. With that said myself and 2 friends got fed up with the snow and a few weeks back we booked the Legends Package in Myrtle Beach. We fly out April 3rd landing at 730am and Fly back to this frozen tundra on Monday April 6th. We head back at 10pm so we have a full 4 days in MB. Right now through the legends package we have 4 rounds of golf booked. 1 Friday 2 Saturday and 1 Sunday. We are looking for a course to play in that area that is worth the money before we head on back to New England. For the seasoned golfers that have used this package whats the best course you played? What courses near by should we play on the Monday? Good night life to look out for in the area? The three of us are 26-28 years of age so we plan on having a real good time.

Thanks Guys and Happy Golfing in 2015!

-Adam

adam, keep in mind while the legends courses are all good courses they tend to overbook and rounds in the spring are not uncommon to run 5.5 to 6.0 hours, so you may not have time for another 18, you could look at a replay at the legends or go down the street to MB National and try the west course, IMO its the best of the three and only 5 minutes away, just another couple of minutes is wild wing, good luck with the night life, if your looking for bars, there are plenty at broadway at the beach, but if your looking for something a little more exotic good luck with that everytime you open a paper there is another one closing, you may have to go to north myrtle beach, which could be a long ride if your drinking, enjoy your stay at the beach

We just got back Wednesday from legends. Are you staying on site? Are you playing Heritage/Oyster Bay. We skipped oyster bay this year and played Heritage 2x. Best course of the 5 in my opinion. As far as night life its pretty slow when we go. Ailsa pub always treats us good. Might cost a little more but its close to the condo's and the food is awesome!!

I just returned from my 7 day trip to myrtle. What a cold, rainy, icy mess. That being said still had a blast. If your looking for a good after hours spot go to The Masters its the best place down there. Or we found a regular bar we liked called Magoos decent food great prices on drinks.(kinda a local bar i think)

I golfed at legends last year, almost same dates. The front half of the double tees were booked solid, the afternoon half was pretty wide open. Key is to get out early in the morning( 745-830), then you can double up for a 130-2pm afternoon tee time. I golfed with 4 and we stopped for lunch at the turn everyday. Managed 12 rounds in 6 days. Double tee times can be done.

Parkland was our favorite.

I'm in MB right now on a little trip. Just played Grande Dunes and can't believe I went all this time without playing it. Super track, great people and probably 15-20!minutes from Legends at most. I also agree with Myrtle beach national although I have not played the West course ( I like the other 2). Also try Wizard, Man O war, myrtlewood palmetto and Pine Lakes all of which are within a few minutes of Legends.

Have a great trip!!!!

GD is great. Also MB Natl is minutes away, as is Wild Wing.....2 of my favorite courses. I concur on the "you won't have time to travel too far from the Legends for a second course" mantra
