Vicki Hurst Fan Club

I wanted to start a fan club thread for Vicki Hurst. She is a member of my home course in Melbourne, Florida and is one of the nicest girls I have ever met.

In 2008 she was #1 on the money list out of the Futures Tour, securing her LPGA card. Since she is a rookie, there are no stats on the LPGA site yet, but I will be posting her accomplishments here. She is known for her Kangol hats, which I think will have the Callaway logo now since she signed a contract with them.

I will post her picture here too at a later date.

OMG, Vicky Hurst is in last place at HSBC.

I hope this does't kill her confidence too much.

Not just last place, but shot 7-over in R1, and 12-over in R2. 19-over!

Yikes! I never saw that coming.

But today in R3:

She's even through 10 with 2 birdies and 2 bogies.

What course do you play out of in Melbourne? I play in that area a lot and am always looking for a nice course.

Last weekend we saw Vicki practicing putting. She was with her mom and sister. I took a pic of her and my girls, and she signed a ball for each of them. She is now signed with Under Armour for apparel. Her mom said they were a good company to deal with. She also had a really pretty putter, with a dark finish. It has what I would call a Zing style head, but I am not sure what Callaway calls it. I did not want to seem too crazy, so I did not take a picture of it. lol As always, it was a pleasure to talk with her for a few minutes.
Hi Koko, I recently moved from Brevard over to Citrus county (job thing lol). I followed Vicky through her prep days and on the Duramed tour last year...What a talent!! I noticed you haven't posted in awhile...Hope all is well! I know she didn't qualify for the Open, but I don't think she played last week either. Any info?? Thanks in advance from a big fan of this special young lady.
Hi! I have not been around the WRX for a while! Before the British, she went to Indiana to spend some time playing golf with her new caddie. I guess the practice payed off, since she did quite well.

No, she did not qualify for the US open, but the qualifying was on Monday after a tournament and a lot of the players had trouble with traveling Sunday (after playing a tournament) and then playing 36 on Monday. Not a very fair qualifier for the LPGA players who played the previous weekend, IMO.

Where do you play golf over here?

I played through her on a course in Central Indiana. We chatted for a few minutes, her attitude was nice, her game was GREAT. Just watching from a distance, she looked to have a great smooth swing. Should be interesting to see how she does.

I got a chance to follow her group today (Michelle Wie) at the Kia Classic. She was absolutely killing the ball. For such a small girl (Michelle towered over her), I was surprised that she was actually keeping up with her and on some holes actually out-driving her. It turns out she is actually leading the tour in distance... I never would have guessed. Her drives were beautiful little draws that split the fairway.
And on the practice range, I only saw one shot that looked like it was off; just incredible. She just didn't have the putter working for her today. I only wish I would have gotten to see more of her without the big crowd in the way ;).

Vicky was really nice. Even though she had left the signing area to go to the clubhouse, she still stopped and signed something for me. Thanks Vicky! I was a fan of hers before, but now she's got an even bigger fan in me. She's got a bright future ahead of her and I look forward to seeing more of her.

And I gotta say, I enjoy attending the LPGA events more than the PGA ones. The crowds are a lot smaller and the girls really appreciate their fans by taking lots of time to sign their things. Plus, they give hope to us mere mortal golfers to strive for instead of the impossible distances the guys are pulling off.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Vicky Hurst finish No. 1 in Driving Distance last year?
