Dot or line?

Hi there. yeah...I am only beginning to become more knowledgeable on putters, what styles i like/suit me. I never really knew byron morgan putters until recently and man oh man...i really really like them. Cheers to you too.

 

yeah, man. you'll freaking love it if you purchase one. best feeling putters i have ever used and i've tried out a lot of different brands and models (bettinardi, sizemore, cameron, etc.). your first should be a carbon steel if you can manage to keep it dry! unbelieveably soft!

Sight line. If i didn't have one i wouldn't know where the hell i was aiming.

I prefer a sight dot (and I know I am in good company - Tiger W....)

I prefer a sightline over a dot. I don't mind if there isn't an alignment aid on the putter either.

i've tried everything. but as of late, i am going the simple and uncluttered route and just picked up a SS Newport. no lines...no dots....plain. i have also begun lining my ball up with no visual aid visible when i am at address. when i set the ball in front of the marker, i line the brand mark on the intended line and when i address it, nothing but white dimples.

 

 

 

just dimples and a putter head.

 

 

 

i still suck....but uncluttered is nice.

I prefer a line. Never really though about it much till now. I think it gives me something I can see to concentrate on in order to maintain tempo throughout my swing. At least that is what I think it does for me.

 

I have used a putter with a sight line and didn't feel it hurt my putting so it leaves me puzzled. I would still get a putter with a sight line if provided the option though.

lines. how do you line up a dot to a line on your ball? line to line is just much easier.

Neither.. as I like no alignment aids...but if I had to choose.. it'd be a dot. Or better yet.. a dot with no paintfill.

A dot is useless, might as well be plane jane.

Dot for sure. I used to like lines, but I tried the imola and hit every putt right on target.

Line (s) and the longer the better. I've long been an advocate of extended back putters for those who are over 40.

 

Blades are all very nice and look great but as we age our eyes get to the point where we just don't see as well as we did when we had flat bellies.

 

Have someone use a laser and switch back and forth between putters with lines, dots, nothing and see which you aim best with.

 

As posted earlier about dots. If you aim fine with a dot great, if you only think you do then you're proving that the line works best.... it's that six inch line between your ears.

I've always played with sight lined Anser-likes and marked my ball with a line as well. I found myself caught up with the line too much and thought the combination messed up my back stroke. So recently when I ordered my newest acquisition (C&L), I went for the sight dot. I still mark my ball with a line and now line the dot with the line. Less is more for me. Backstroke is less confusing and still got a line (ball) to aim during the putting stroke.

 

So...dot on putter, line on ball. Got to try it.

i guess the line for me, never putted with the dot... i wnat to get a byron 007, the putters look better with the dot... hopefully it wont affect my putting when i get it.
