Right wrist injury?

Anyone else deal with this? Should I get xrays?

I've been kind of out of commission now for about a week after experiencing some pain in my right wrist (right-handed golfer) on the radial side right below where the thumb connects. A few weeks back I went on a golf weekend and shot 99 holes of golf in about 48 hours after spending a ton of time in the preceding weeks practicing. Probably it's just from repetitive use, but I figured I'd ask around here to see if anyone has any advice...

It started slowly a few of weeks ago, pretty much at the end of the trip and I tried practicing a few times and then golfing another round which was a mistake.

Is this a common injury? If I try to rotate the wrist around I get some tendons/ligaments sort of popping around which doesn't happen to the left wrist....Does this sound like something pretty serious or just leave it alone for a couple of weeks? At this point it can be slightly painful doing routine stuff like lifting my coffee mug if I don't watch it.

Ice the wrist,take alleve and SEE A HAND DOCTOR.

Sounds like tendonitis.
Rest, stretch and ice. Rest, rest, rest..........Been there.
Take a week to 10 days away from anything that bothers that hand/wrist.

Stretch the tendons, bend the wrist down at 90*. Ice the forearm as is helps relieve the pain in the wrist. Try some kinesio tape as well. Went to see the chiropractor today for my lower back and told him about my wrist hurting, and told me to do what I wrote above. Yesterday I had a lot of pain in my wrist, today I was beating balls and playing and had no pain. Its worth a try.

Thanks, folks. That's what I am hoping. It seems to be doing a little bit better today but I tried picking up a club last night and just doing a slo-mo backswing and had quite a bit of discomfort almost immediately.

I'll keep off of it and see how I am next week.

I play with that pain every round. 4 advil usually keep it in check.

I've got a right wrist pain also. Hurts when I make a side to side motion. Have no idea how it happened.

I had a similar injury my junior year of high school. Looking back on it, I should have iced it and stretched the tendon.

Whatever you do, don't try to come back too quickly. I did this and it only made it worse and your score suffers with the discomfort, which is no fun.

I have something very similar to this and i blame it on hitting on mats all winter long. I cannot play more than once a week because of the soreness that occurs during and after playing. Unfortunatley for me, i have a pinehurst trip next week. I have to keep my man card and man up big time.

Are you willing to risk the possibilty of there being something seriously wrong and hope that it gets better (you've already waited a week and still immediate pain)? See a Dr. or a Physio and find out. I wouldn't want to wait and possibly ruin the rest of my golf season or wait so long that the rehab takes twice as long because you waited and now you have compounded the injury by waiting.

I've got a right wrist pain also. Hurts when I make a side to side motion. Have no idea how it happened.

 

I started getting this pain also. I was wondering if you found something that helps? I know i started getting the pain after a 5 hour range session which i hit my fair share of really fat shots. After that it's been consistently there.
