A beauty and a beast! This club is a great alternative for better players with higher swing speeds than a traditional hybrid. It has a beautiful shape, and when looking from behind it looks like a traditional blade. However, its hollow-bodied design offers a great deal of forgiveness without sacrificing a tour-preferred shape at address. As someone who draws the ball, this club has been great for me. As anyone who fights a hook knows, hybrids have a tendency to sit slightly closed, so a slightly overcooked draw can turn into a quick hook. Not only is my ball flight straighter with this club as opposed to a traditional hybrid, but my trajectory is better as well. Off the tee, it’s quite easy to hit a low “stinger” type shot by teeing the ball slightly higher and focusing on sawing-off the follow through. With that being said, you can certainly throw this club up in the air, which is extremely important when hitting this club into a par 5 in two or into a long par 3. In short, you have a lot more control over your shape and trajectory with the ZU65 than a traditional hybrid.

A lot of the "better player" hybrids don't sit closed. I think hybrids have come a long way in terms of their usability. At this point for me, the only reason to play a UDI is feel. The U65 and other forgings feel superior to something like a M3 hybrid... But the M3 is more adjustable and is more forgiving. I can still hit my hybrid high and low and I feel like I can control that flight a bit more, too.

All in all, it's just player preference. Looks, feel... all things to consider.

I have demo the U65 but still game the U45 in an 18* lofted down to 17*. Got my 20* in the works for the same Recoil 110 reshaft.

I have favourable comments for the U46/65 but my only knock on the Srixons is the stock shafts offering are junk. Pretty much every other shaft options you can pick out is a better shaft than the stock Nippon 98 or Mizaki graphite.

Yes, you can play all the shots you have described provided you fit the right shaft that will knock the launch and spin rate down.

Lastly, it does have a bulky back side that Srixon does a good job of hiding with a mirror so I wouldn’t segment this club as a player’s size, also has moderate offset but not a frying pan by any means.
