More help with putter identification please

Hello again,

 

If you saw my last post asking for help with random clubs I knew nothing about, here’s round two. If people feel I should contain this all in one thread, then mods feel free to move.

 

3 putters this time. One says Les Young’s Golf Shop Essex Fells NJ. No clue about this one.

 

Next is what seems to be a standard Walter Hagen the Haig, but from what I’ve seen there is usually a different stamping on the sole, upright, 350, something like that. This only says the Haig. Prototype perhaps?

 

Finally is a bullseye style putter stamped Gary player and some icon. Nothing else to go on but that. Anyone know the brand?

I suspect that the Gary Player was made by Slazenger, the Claret Jug was used on some of the iron sets he put his name to.

Do not know on two of them.. I can shed a little light on the wooden one though. Do not know anything specific on the golf shop in NJ but can somewhat comment. Back in the 50s and 60s you had a few local golf shops and those guys were real craftsmen. A lot of them bought wood turnings from various sources and did the final shaping etc on the clubs themselves. Some of the guys had custom sole plates made with their shop name. Others bought the plates and stamped them themselves. Like I said these guys were real woodworking craftsmen and had the skill and woodworking tools to get it done. We had two such guys in our area when I was growing up. Harold Dale in Charlotte NC and Ike In Kannapolis NC. Both of those guys were skilled craftsmen. Any of the clubs I find like the wooden putter you found I will scarf up. Not because they are worth big bucks but because I like to admire the lines and appreciate the fine Craftsmanship and patience that it took to complete them. Same reason I like to look at the work Dave Wood does today. I also admire the restoration work our esteemed fellow WRXer Teevons does too.

Thanks for the info Stu, as someone who would buy this putter if you had found it, what is it worth? Not worth big bucks is relative to each person. ;)
