Disappointed in my new Mizuno BR D3 bag

I was excited to receive my new Mizuno BR-D3 bag yesterday. I have used a Titleist 2014 stand bag and was always pleased with its quality.

 

However, the Mizuno bag seems to be made of cheap material, and my 14 clubs barely fit in the top cuff all squeezed together. I am very disappointed in the quality, especially when their iron quality is so high.

 

Anyone else have an opinion on this bag? Are my expectations too high?

I saw it in the store and was also not impressed with the materials, though I thought the overall design looked nice. You've confirmed my suspicion that the top opening looked small.

I got mine for $109 shipped so I can’t be too critical about quality of materials but the opening is just fine for my clubs

Is this made of the same material as in BR-D4??

I bought my BRD3 bag with pro shop credit at the end of last year.

 

I took it down to Myrtle Beach in March and put it to use for 3 rounds.

 

I absolutely hate the bag and and the materials feel flimsy. Additionally, my clubs rubbed against each other pervasively throughout the 3 rounds.

 

I was elated to be able to offload it recently.

Previously, some Mizuno bags were made by Sun Mountain, I think. Like the Eight50 stand bag had some signature Sun Mountain features like the sewn-in shoulder straps.

 

The new bags look like they’re made by the same company that makes Titleists’ current bags. And people complain about the quality of those.

I like my Mizuno gear but I haven't been impressed with their bags, outside of some of the top-end and water-proof bags. I have the Tour Cart bag and actually bought a used Tour Stand bag a month ago, kept it around for a couple of days, decided it's not going to cut it for me as a back-up bag and sold it. The material seems very flimsy and the bags look cheap. They've been like that for years.

 

The Tour Cart bag is great though.

The Pro Cart is the only non-Staff Mizuno bag that has impressed me much for quite awhile.

 

I REALLY wanted a Pro Cart back when I had Mizuno irons. I found one on Craig's List for $100 but it was about a month after I sold my Mizuno irons and by the time I overcame my OCD and decided to buy it anyway, it was gone. It's probably the only OEM bag I would carry without any matching clubs... though if I did, I'd probably end up trying to find some JPX 850 or 900 Forged once the OCD kicked back in. It's sad, but I've stuck with Sun Mountain and Ogio bags for awhile now to keep myself from making unnecessary bag changes when I'm making club changes.

I just sold mine...after only 4 rounds.

I thought it was straight garbage and my clubs barely fit.

I was very fortunate to sell it close to what I paid for it.

My issue isn't so much with the clubs fitting - 14 clubs seem to do fine for me, but rather the legs. They don't spring back and retract like I'm accustomed to (Sun Mountain and Ping for the last ten years). That's obviously a huge pain when you just want to pick up your bag and throw it on your shoulders but the legs get caught on your clothing. Looks are great and storage is sufficient, but I feel like there's got to be some basic qualifiers that include how functional it is on the course. Will probably go back to the reliable Ping Hoofer series or see what Sun Mountains new offerings look like.

FWIW: the 2018 BR-D3 is part no. 240216 and advertises 9.5" 5-way opening. The 2019/2020 BR-D3 is part no. 240226 and advertises 9.5" 4-way opening. I might be stuck with credit at a golf shop so I'm thinking about giving the new BR-D3 a shot despite the less-than-stellar reviews above.

 

Edit: Well, WRX took over and I ended up buying another driver instead!

The legs on Miz bags are pretty bad too. My son got his right before summer and already having issues. Getting ready to ditch it for the HS team bag he will be getting soon.
