PXG OPERATOR

Anyone using a PXG Operator putter? Feedback?

I have the Limited Edition Darkness Operator H. Instead of a milled inset, the entire face is milled.

 

It is a great mallet. I go back and forth between the Operator and my 37 1/2” counter balanced Mustang.

 

I know several of the PXG fitters personally game the Operator.

Just checked, Operator is on there and the Operator H is calling my name.

 

How does any PXG putter feel off the face?

I think it’s probably their best putter.

Has anybody tried the new insert? I own three with the old insert and I like them a lot, but I’m intrigued by this new insert.

On my Darkness Operator H, there is no insert (as with the Gen1 PXG putters); the milling (diamond/pyramid) is done directly on the face.

How is the feel of the new face?

Hard to describe; to me, it is definitely firm. Not as firm as a Scotty but not as soft as a Bettinardi.

Thanks! It is hard to tell on the site pictures. I don’t mind the inserts, because unlike Cameron and his 3M double sided tape, PXG uses the same material as in the irons behind the insert, so it feels pretty good and true to sound and feel.

I did (and still do!) use the older ones; I have the Mustang in a 37” counter balance and a Bat Attack. Love, love, love the Mustang; but he is in timeout at the moment.

 

I have a serous putter infidelity issue. :-)

I ordered (today) the PGX “Closer” in 35”. Standard head weight is 360g. It looks a lot like the Bettinardi Queen Bee 6. It will be in hand in approximately 2 weeks. I will try and remember to give a report.

Indeed! I have a Mustang, Bat Attack, and a Mini Gunboat H. I would not compare them to anything Cameron with 3M double sided tape or a Bettinardi putter. The insert has the same material as the iron behind the insert. I like the feel and the ball rolls pretty true. With the new ones out, I may try to add a Brandon.

I just got an Operator H Gen1. I wanted a sub for my Spider X. I love the alignment of my Spider X but I hate the hollow feel. The Operator H Gen1 in my opinion is the best of both worlds. Super easy alignment along with a really solid off the face. I've owned the Gunboat mini before and the feel is similar. Solid across the face but larger MOI. The toe hang of the operator is about 30%. Very similar to the Spider X. Best for a slight arc putting stroke.
